[Poll] Freedom of speech - "F*CK Bush" printed in newspaper

I don't know how much word is getting out about this incident. Not too long ago a Colorado State University college newspaper printed the headline of FUCK BUSH in an editorial. It was responded to with a lot of protest and outrage, this news article can explain the rest a lot better than I can: http://www.westword.com/2007-10-04/news/buck-fush/
I personally think he had full rights to print this article, and was wondering on other's responses to it aswell.

sure why not - its a college paper - I would object to swear words being used on the headline of a publication that children might see but this is a college campus.

I'm with Luke - I think it's appropriate for a college editorial article, maybe not a national paper - which should probably be a little more mature with it's message. Although there's something about the f word that probably best describes how many people are feeling right now.

I wonder if these words will hepl to resolve problems.
I think this action (in this particular case) will not help, and there is no sense to publish words like these.
Freedom of speach is a good thing if it is not just a billingsgate which does not influence on anything (like a sick air vibration.) It should work otherwise it is just an ordinary abuse.

Really there is freedom of speech, but i don't think we should truncate such power. Whatever is coming out as a media work should be considered because it is going to people of divers view. Such a publication would not boost the morale of some upcoming young ones. And most importantly, that does not in any way guarantee the solving of such problems that led to such publication. So why do it at all?

I think that this person had the right to their opinion. So writing the article won't fix anything, but I'm sure that that person feels better. Freedom of speech is just that--free to voice your opinion on anything (as long as it doesn't cross into hate speech of course).

Yeah; that's ok. Newspapers' purpose is to promote free speech, so I guess thats fine. BUT, I think there should be some limitations on Free Speech that you can not hurt one another's feelings or discriminating against someone.
Nice Thread
