Religious Figures as agents of change
September 29, 2007 - 04:12 PM

Dear all,
It is my first contribution to the discussion board. I am a new member actually.
These days i am extremely interested at the actions in Burma. Although personally I do not like hard core politics talk, I became interested at what happens in Burma. The fascinating thing is the involvement of religious figures as social leaders in the political arena. As a secularist, I have formed an idea that it is for the betterment of the state to keep religion aside. But what about religious figures who can play an essential role as agents of progressive change? What do you think of the different manifestations of such roles in different cultural contexts?
I know to hear information and insights on that.
