Will robots rule the world?

Do you think it's plausible that as we humans deplete the resources and at the same time increase technology at the current rate that we're going, the human race will eventually be totally replaced by robots or computers?
While a machine can only be as smart as it's creator, it seems possible to me that after a very long time, robots could rule the earth.
What do you think?

everything is possible...and finally an end as the Matrix Movie or I Robot seems possible...
There is no limits to science and everyday we discover something new.
Artificial intelligency is more and more developped with years. They make robots who have true expressions and can answer some questions...GPS who can guide you on your traject...cars with cameras and GPS which can drive alone...etc etc...so yes I think it is possible to make robots more clever than human.
But, a robot can he be a sensitive? It makes all the difference.
Nowaday, I don't think robots rule the worlds. But it may come one day...science as its good and bad face...

Hi!
I agree that almost everything is possible. In the recent years we saw so many things happening, even if they were considered impossible.
At the same time, I think we can evaluate events on a scale: from unlikely to likely to happen. My estimation is that robot will not run the planet. At least not alone. They can do it as the "muscle" of some group of people, and this is something we need to avoid.
While robot have strenghts and resistance, they are controlled by software. We can be controlled, too, by propaganda and brainwashing, another evil to avoi. But it takes time.
To summarize: robots can be taken over by sabotating their software. Humans have the power to change their opinions, adapt to situations, do the right thing even if at the last minute. So, we have an advantage on robots, regardless of their strenght and technology.

Machines only do what they are programmed to do, so if anyone making robots were smart enough they shouldn't let it think for itself beyond the task given to it. If it were to you'd have the Matrix type of scenario where they get tried of being slaves to lazy violent humans and kills them all for their intolerance . Though tech. wont be that advance in our lifetime.
The most likely scenario to happen would be the irobot type scenario where some central brain figure uses them as the blunt force for their objectives.
Anyways it's more likely the human beings will just kill themselves off before any such thing will happen, leaving the current robots to rust. But if it does happen i for one welcome our mecha overlords!

In my humble opinion, I can see that during the mass-production boom, human workforce has been gradually replaced by machinery, or robots in other words. Nevertheless, this trend has considerably and dramatically increased, especially during the past decade.
However, stating that robots will replace man for ever seems very far from actuality that we witness. Some countries like India and China prefer labor-intensive methodologies in mass-production rather than machinery-intensive methodologies, that are adopted by more advanced, less-populated countries.
Each socioeconomic context and situation of each and every region on this Earth dictates the equation

It would be an interesting age though, in case it were to happen.
One thing is sure. In what concerns rational and consistent approach to govern and rule, robots would be more consistent and competent, given they possess a stroke of creativity, imagination and learning ability.
However, that is what would make them almost human, right?

everything is possible......and with the latest reports on the reseaches that using nanotechnology in apporaching a new generation of high-intelligent machines..i'm afraid...all can come into the real existence...i think we have to develop the human mind.......inventing new technology to increase its powers ....not to substitute natural brains with artificial ones.....

i'd like to believe we will innovate away from this futuristic notion, however, if we continue to deplete our resources at the rate we currently are, its a sad possibility...

In my opion it is very possible considering the fact that we now have machines that can think "on there feet" as it were even if it is just there software we will at somestage be able to make a machine that can learn from past actions and if that happens then it is highly likely that they could rule the world

It is possible to think that robots will someday push humans to extinction and rule the world. The most important issue is that robots cannot reproduce themselves and it is uncertain if they will ever be able to.
There are so many issues involved that it seems impossible. How will they keep order? Will they need laws and how will they be able to follow them if they have no feelings? It is a very complicated process but could be possible.

well, it is possible but still there are certain facts that would make this not possible. The first issue is the Reproduction, the Robots wont be able to reproduce iunless there is a mechanisim like one shown in the Terminator II movie, the Evil Robot touched any machine and it converts it into a Robot for Destruction.
Secondly, the mind of a robot which needs to be some wat like human mind, this fact is really impossible but maybe there comes a human mind with an idea to sort it out. maybe !
thirdly, What situation can make Robots to take over the World ? this question must bet the first to ask, coz if the Robots would be tat good to take over the Human, then i can say that at that time or era or age the Humans would be more intelligent and active and technologically civilized as Compared to nowadays.

I don't believe with the current technology that is is feasible to think that robots would be able to control the world. Though robots are a part of every day life now and we use them for a wide-variety practices, it is hard to believe they could 100% do everything we can. I do believe as time goes by robots will become even more incorporated into our society. However robots will never be smarter than those who design them, which makes it virtually impractical to think they could "rule the world."

Even if they try to rule the world, the one place that will be free from their grip will be Africa -why? @ the rate we are going it will be way way long b4 we start developing robots that have AI. so am not worried at all!
