My school project

Hi, my name is Phil, I am studying computer science and I am making a school project as part of my studies.
My project consists of a web page that allows to access pages prohibited by proxys. For example: youtube is unaccessible from my school because it is blocked by the school's proxy, my page would allow to access the site by redirecting the page's content to the user's internet browser. Right now my page works for redirecting static html pages but I have plans to make it work for dynamic pages like the ones using AJAX.
What I've writen this far is in PHP but it's not too late to change language, I was thinking JavaScript using an AJAX approach.
If you have any suggestions or comment please feel free to express yourself.
thanks

Hello!
Yes, that looks a bit funny to me, too, that your project is about going around school's policies :-)
Anyway, it is very interesting from a technical point of view. What you are building can be adapt to work in countries where access to some internet sites is censored by undemocratic governments.
There are many proxy services available online. What hint is to go and see what they offer and how they offer it, to see how your solution benchmarks compared to them.
On a practical level, there are many great open source libraries and toolkits already available out there which you can consider. Including:
http://ajaxpatterns.org/Tools
http://www.infoworld.com/article/06/07/31/31FEajax_1.html
http://www.codeplex.com/Project/ProjectDirectory.aspx?TagName=Ajax
http://www.roseindia.net/opensource/freeproxyservers.php
I admit I just googled about them, so better double check the code before integrating it into any sensitive application.
All the best for your project, and pls keep us updated on its development!
frank
