Youth are the future and can ultimately play a huge role in helping to protect our natural resources--How can this be true for the oceans?

iT is right to said that. The youth is the controller of the world 's future. But I can not say anything about the occean. Because it is so polluted now, and many spices is dissapearing. We can not prevent it. What we are doing now is decrease spices disapearing. It is too late, although science will be able to study for the solution. What we lose, we can not get back again.

One simple thing that youth could become involved in easily that would benefit the oceans is simply recycling. They can encourage family and friends to recycle, and/or also volunteer at recycling drives. Although this doesn't seem to directly impact the ocean's, it does.

I also recommend checking out the following websites for ways to get involved:

First of all i do not think that young people are the future; They're rather the present since they have the power to work hard and change the world. We don't garentee that they will keep the same strenth in the future. The present is our's and we plan for a brighter future: that's the truth.
Young people can do a lot of positive things to save the oceans. Personally i've contibuted in many companies of cleaning the shoare and making people aware about the danger they cause to the nature. This seem very traditional and not really doing a big change, but i would say that if these companies were repititive and with large numbers of participants, more people could be involved in protecting the ocean and the environment in general.

I think a big problem of the oceans is over-fishing. I live in Japan where fish consumption is very high. I think we should be careful about the kinds of fish we buy. There are Internet sites which list which fish are still plentiful and which fish should not be bought by consumers.
Other problems like the increasing acidity of the ocean from its absorption of carbon dioxide will be more difficult for anyone to fix.

OK. a really nice point. But how to prevent this over-fishing? Goverments should work on this together. As for now, not all of them joined the Kioto protocol, for example. How to force Govts to control over-fishing?
I have heard about a fishers' demonstration in France, when Govt wanted to reduce and forbid fishing for 1 year.
Btw, does Japan still catch whales and dolphins? It is illegal

There is also a youth climate blog at:
www.itsgettinghotinhere.org
I think that a contribution youth can make is both their energy and their technical savvy. Bringing modern information and skills to the issue certainly should help.

Yes, the youth need to start recycling more. As i have said on other posts the oceans are ESSENTIAL for human survival, maybe not us and maybe not our kids but sometime in the future we will have a big problem if we do not do somethign about this.

We can protect the ocean by recycling and only using organic supplies. That way, anything that is disposed into the ocean will not hurt it.

I can make sure I recycle so that hazardous trash and waste can't corrupt both the water needed for survival, and the animals living inside.

I definitely think that youths can play a role in protecting the earth's oceans. Although we are still young, we are the future, and we need to set the precedent for the next generations to come. In my opinion, the sooner we start, the sooner our example will be followed by the rest of the world, and the sooner the ocean's can finally start improving.

I feel that youths such as myself can make huge differences in protecting the ocean. Anyone can make a difference by simply picking up trash left on the beach by some other beach goer. Furthermore, by working with adults, we can make changes sooner and preserve the ocean for our future use and the use of the generations to come.
