There is, actually. In Malaysia, we have something called The Universities and the Universities College Act 1971 (A ct 30) (AUKU) which restricts the rights of tertietary education students from participating politically in any way save for the political parties of the Barisan Nasional (i.e. UMNO, MIC, etc). We cannot legally stand up on our own two feet for our beliefs, or we face risk of being expelled and barred from acquiring or finishing our courses for life, or until pardon which basically means the same thing. Also, they allow independent charity work but not much.

That's the brief, anyways.

wel, then chibi there is something wrong with that act and it must be changed i believe that your country is a proud member of the United Natios and is a signitory to the Universal Declaration of human rights. in that declaration YOU are entitled to paticipate in politics.
that is very important.I believe that it is time we join hand and help make that Act inactive.
In ghana once you are 18 and above, you have the political freedom and you are entitiled to join an political party of your choice, you can stand to be voted for
in some instances and vote during elections, and many others which i believe your country can adopt.
We the youth in ghana are even fighting hard to seek more freedom in our country.
Hope u have a nice day.B e good.

No. i think you are going on the wrong way. The prime responsibility of youth is to get standard education. Govt. and our leaders' responsibility is provide the youth standard educational oppurtunities and the healthy environment so that the students may prosper in their fields. So for student participation in politics is totally wrong. When they involve themeselves in politics, they will lose their studies.

well, i am very suprised by the comments of saeedshah. It is rather wrong that we are not involved in what we are going to inherite.Still in Ghana, there is what we call students politics which goes on in schools just to prepare the student to be active and know how to go about things i the political world after school.I believe that because of what you are aying, you might not get enogh experence as someone who starts the practical work at schoolTheory is the best but practicle is better.
Please kindly answer these short questions:
Is all that is done by the government in your country having your reflections?
do u believe in all that is done by the government of your country?
Do you vote?

We know its wrong, and there are many various reasons that support why. The government cracks down on all of us identifiable dissenters though so you might wanna visit this link

I know of some of my peers who do underground works, but frankly there's nothing much that we could do but to continue under the yoke of enforced compliance.

The entry age of voting is 21. Most people won't graduate 'till 24, and if you include Masters and PhDs, it's rather ironic that you refuse the educated class of society from being able to promote, propose and eloquently address current issues. I'm not saying that the one swho don't go to Universities are incapable of thinking, but they are often disinterested and simply maintain sheep mentality. They do what the media tells them to do. *sigh*

Studies are important, but there are things that transcend that, y'know.
