how to guarantee stakeholder participation?

Corporate Social Responsbility has been a hot issue drawing lots of attention. as for this topic,my resarch focus is on stakeholder participation. before, some argued that the only responsiblity of a corporation is making profit for shareholders.nowadays, the responsibilities of corporations is diverse and worthy of studying. in the implementation of CSR, i hold the view that corporation should engage stakeholders. as for the details i want to know
the business cases
what should corporations do to engage stakeholders?
what should stakeholders themselves do to be more invovled into the operaion of corporations/
from the angle of information disclosure, which i think would really facilitate stakeholder participation,do you have any ideas?
i will appreciate a lot for any suggestions, comments, ideas and so forth.
best regards

Among the many daily pressures corporate leaders face every day, improving social and environmental records is generally not the highest priority, until their companies become the targets of bad publicity from a coordinated group of activists. Stakeholders, including NGOs, investors, and activists, as well as communities, labor, and consumers, are playing an increasingly important role. Rather, the entire system makes it very difficult for corporate managers to put anything but short-term financial interest as their main goal. There will need to be a systems change if we expect corporations to better balance societal interests with profit making motives. Stakeholders' role is essential in changing the system. As different stakeholders engage corporations, managers will face new pressures and have to respond to these.e in improving corporate behavior.
