The little things....
May 7, 2003 - 12:45 PM

In this month's theme of Health Promotion I feel that it is important to note that the "little things" can lead to health goals. For example, Walk up the stairs everyday at the subway station and one can burn an extra 5000-7500 CALS per year, stopping at one station further and walking the extra 2-3 blocks can burn an extra 250 - 500 cals/week, replacing one sweet/salty snack with a piece of fruit/day lowers cal consumption and increases fibre and vitamin intake.

Remember that a whole lot of little adds to a lot...

I agree with you, there is so many things that people can do to become more healthy. One example I think everyone should be doing is for students that are nearby schools, they should be walking! Schools are suppose to be at walking distance, so why are so many kids getting drives? Don't be lazy, its just a 5-15 minute walk, it won't kill you to walk 15 minutes.

Well, there are many things people can do, to become more healthy. Your right, if people do live close to the school then why not walk. What harms will that do? Students shouldnt be getting a drive from their parents or their older siblings if they live so close. Also, people should eat less juke food. This would also help. People should also exercise daily. Exercising can help you become healthier.
