without leaders countries would be chaos. who would uphold the law? who would control the economic side of our countries? without leaders there would be large power struggle just as there is in iraq at the moment. they have no leaders therefore they have a country of chaos. and if they did have leaders are they doing there job/

Leaders, Everyone needs a leader... yet everyone wants to be a leader. We have a problem with power.
Leaders are supposed to represent what a country wants, not what they themselves want. They are supposed to be unselfish.
Countries definately need them. Governments however, are also another thing that is controversial.
The govt is SUPPOSED to be for the people... not the other way around. MPs, Govts and leaders now days are only in it for the power. They only want their views put accross and they make stupid decisions based on their decisions for what's best for them, not their country. Bush is an excellent example of this. He is a Catholic... So he doesnt believe in abortions.. thus why he made it illegal or whatever in some parts of America. Religious views should never affect a leaders decision. Im sure that well over half of all americans believe in abortion. Also, America did not sign the bill of Human Rights. Why? Because their leaders are power hungry, prejudice idiots who believe that some people are so low that they are 6 feet under - litterally no doubt. Who gets to decide who plays god?? How can you just kill people?
So, All countries need a voice of reason. A voice of overall fairness. No other country other then nz has that. So we are lucky. Maybe more countries should have female leaders. Take Helen Clarks decision not to send troops into the Middle East for example! No ones bombing us (or intends to cross ya fingers) and we're still allies with The U.S.
Some of us forget that Leaders can be corrupt as well so they dont always "uphold the law" as they are above the law... like the police... some also forget that other leaders killed Iraq's leader Saddam Hussein... he was evil sure but Iraq was booming when he was leader. There economy was etc etc... so maybe its best from now on if other countries leaders dont get muddled up in other countries affairs *cough* George Bush.

with this idea i think leaders are a vital part in the organisation and control over the country they are important to ensure we all get the best treatment i think leaders are needed ...i mean look at the countries that have been taken over by western society they are in complete turmoil because our western world saw their leaders as "dictators" i feel each to their own if people want an easy life with out any HUGE decisions having to be made by them then a leaders the best way to go ...but if not then i suppose the theory of communism is nice but its wether it will work in practice or not ....but thanks this is a very interesting topic
