what is weird to me is the democrats are sounding like republicans. There doesn't seem to be huge difference b/w the parties this go around. The only thing that is different maybe is the public is not so fond of the republican party. I believe the next president will be a democrat, but I don't think we will see a difference in policy.

At this point, I'm not sure it really matters, nor can I really say who would be the best candidates. I've heard a lot about what they believe in and all that, but I haven't heard anything about what the candidates will do to fix the issues in our country. No one seems to have laid out an actual plan yet, and quite honestly, I'm not sure any of them really know how to fix what's taking place. The issues are so deep that it's not as easy as electing new representatives to office. I'm not saying we shouldn't vote, by all means we should, it is our responsibility as citizens to do so. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't expect the next President to fix all of the problems or to fix any more than one or two. The problems we face will take decades to fix because they involve reshaping our society to be better educated and more concerned with the happenings of the world. Also, I urge you to not fall into the trap of voting based on color or gender. From what I can tell, most African Americans are voting for Obama because he's black while most Women are voting for Hillary Clinton because she's a woman. It also seems that many of the people voting for Hillary are actually voting for Bill. Vote based on ideas they present for change, not based on gender or color.

Hillary Clinton, cause their policies when Bill was in power wasn't too bad. I'm a bit hopeful for consistency.

However, having Obama won't be too bad.

Personally, I'd prefer a woman to be on top.

though no one would disagree with you about a woman being ontop, even bill clinton, to say the that the clinton policies were as you say "not too bad" is like trying to find the truth in compromise. The clinton policy was more or less to look the other way.

So is Hillary like her husband as most of you seem to hope? Lets not forget that Hillary held the bag for her husbands quote, unquote eh hem, bad decisions. Have we forgotten the old saying that hell hath no furry as a woman scorned?

Hillary will do nothing different than Bush. The only differnce will be that those who hate Bush will praise Hillary for doing the same things Bush is doing now.

Who said Clinton was significantly better than Bush? Degree in law made him better? Not a bit.

None of recent presidents of America was good niether for American nation nor for the world at large. Even Kennedy had big problems (ex. Bay of Pigs).

I suggest yo go to any of schools in America such as John Hopkins and pick up an undergraduate in his last yea. He will do a better job than any of US presidents of last 50 years.

The idea that the Clintons are the same as the Bush's is just stupid and born out of either ignorance or cynasism,

there was great sustantanive differences onthe whole spectrum of policies from domestic to foreign policies.

if by similar you mean they are both within the American mainstream - yes - but so is any candidate that will be elected - Barak Obama is not going to radically shift popular mainstream policies.

I am sceptical of the idea that Bill and Hillary are one and the same. Sure, they are spouses but Hillary's so-called tough stance brings her closer to George than her husband. My impression is that Hillary is different from George but the difference is cosmetic.

But this impression of mine comes from the observation of Hillary's usual PR. And I also don't look at the domestic policies (which doesn't really concern me) but their foreign policy. I read Hillary's article in Foreign Affairs where she does seem to be quite different in pursing "war on terror" or disengagement from the war in Iraq, but HIllary is different from her position in Foreign Affairs in her usual speeches and interviews. She seems to be trying to diffuse the idea that she might be "soft on terrorism" and win over the votes of Reps who are sick of George? Perhaps, we'll see.

I also agree that any elected US President will be within the mainstream. Ron Paul won't be elected. But the good thing about him being a candidate is that we have some interesting debates among candidates. Too bad Fox News decided to exclude him from the debates.

Arslan - I see a bunch of hippis in Venice supporting Ron Paul - and foreigners like him because he is so anti-ar - but he would make a terrible president.

He is a total isolationist and libertarian - he thinks things like public education and welfare programs are a bad thing.

I think if people really knew his beleifs, and looked past the anti-war stuff, they would see how impractical a president he would be.

Dennis Kucinich is the man who could take the U.S. forward in the right way.
He would lessen the hold on corporate greed, bring health care to everyone and end the war.
All these goals are why he dosen't get coverage from corporate owned media. Media that want a Hilary or Obama either of whom will tow the corporate line.

Kucinich wasn't even a good mayor - he bankrupted the city of Cincinnati and was voted out in a landslide after one term.

He is not a realistic or practical leader and would be in over his head on day 1.

I remember listening to him assert that we had to "get the US out and the UN in" in Iraq and thinking - is he kidding?

The UN would never agree to take over security for Iraq - especially when he was talking about it in 2003, 2004 -

it sounds good, and if they would agree, I would agree - but why would any other country send their kids into that war zone? Why would France, Russia, China etc want the expense to clean up our mess?

The UN relies on member states to contribute forces to peacekeeping actions - where did Kucinich think the UN was going to get 150,000 troops?

He is just not realistic - period.
