Ya mates, about the handwriting thing, thats what I heard from some study. It's interesting concept but I don't know much about it.
Debates I don't think are good predictors of how good a leader will be, because all potential canadiates will tell the voters what they think they want to hear anyway. It's the nature of politics to make promises and somehow not keep them exactly as promised. In a way, it's a hit or miss in my opinion.
Did you happen to watch the YouTube debate, foster?
See that's not what people [should] look at. People look at whether a candidate tells it like it is. After the Bush administration, people want honesty, and people know that the truth isn't always butterfly filled. With debates, you can compare the candidates as to who is, as luke said naive (which I agree, Obama looked very much so, especially since he ended every answer with "and that's what I'll do as president" , who is more conservative, who is more liberal, or who generally has a good head on their shoulders. You can try and get to know the candidate (the person), especially when the questions are coming from everyday Americans.

Is everyone looking towards a Democrat? That's the vibe I am getting... and not just from here.

Luke,
Anu is right. Hillary may be closer to her husband as his wife, but her ideas are closer to W's. At least, she is playing the game to win the favor of Republicans disappointed with the current government.

Of course, this will never happen. :-)

This is definately a left leaning site - but Bush has broken the Republican party, there is no doubt.
right now there are alot more registered Democrates then Republicans in the country and in fact there are more Independants then Republicans - so there are in rough shape.

Ron Paul is my number one choice to be president. He is a constitutionalist. He is the only Republican who was and is against the war in Iraq. He is pro-life having delivered over 4000 babies himself as a Doctor. He will secure the border and will reduce taxes by reducing our foreign entanglements. All we have to do is tell people about Ron Paul. He will restore our individual liberties. He is consistent and a man of integrity. He has been married to the same woman for 50 years and has raised a large family. He also doesn't let the wealthy corporations bribe him. Google Ron Paul.

Thanks for the input cashflow. I did google him-- but definitely still probably don't know as much about him as I should. Here's my question though-- that's great that he's maintained his stance on the Iraq war-- but does he or do any of the candidates really have a plan to get us out of there? It's all well and good to say we need to leave or we need to stay, but who has an actual plan with a high likelihood of success??
Some candidate may very well have such a plan... enlighten me.

what is weird to me is the democrats are sounding like republicans. There doesn't seem to be huge difference b/w the parties this go around. The only thing that is different maybe is the public is not so fond of the republican party. I believe the next president will be a democrat, but I don't think we will see a difference in policy.

[b]I think Hillary Clinton would do a good job, plus she already has respect and relationships with many of the world's leaders.
One thing that left in American fails to see is that Hillary Clinton will not introduce a new course to the war other than that she is not George Bush. Hillary Clinton has been one of the war's biggest supporters from the start. He votes in the senate are only the start of the evidence of this. The problem the left has had with the war is not that we invaded Iraq, but that George Bush invaded Iraq. Hillary will not remove the troops when she takes office and we will see a huge swing in support for the war once she is in office. Those who say they hated the war will support it. Simply because George W Bush will not be in charge.

I'm curious as to what Obama is offering that is different and what he is offering that is better?

Anu - Hillery is not that close to Bush - she is really close to her husband -
her presidency would be run like the last Clinton administration with Bill in the background.
maybe domestically, however, being strongly against hillary myself, I get the feeling she will be strong on foreign policy. I hope it doesn't come to her being the president, but I don't think she is a throw back the disasterous administration of her husband.
Gulliani looks like he is going to take the Republican nod -
most likely, however, that is not good news for the republicans. Gulliani will be the most competative, but he is as far from being a conservative as George W. Bush is.

its the internet...the internet is mostly left-leaning. I agree with that in the end, Bush has hurt the Republican party. I shed few tears over this in that I have never been a republican, but a conservative. My head still spins on the White House's position on Illegal imagration.

I have read up on Ron Paul. Bottom line, no matter how good a person he might be...he will not be elected to the white house. I sent an email once to each congress person and senator. I asked 3 questions. where do you stand on the war on terror, where do you stand on illegal immagration and last, do you support Israel. You would be surprised at some of the answers.
