Net Scams

It is my duty to unfortunately mention the nature of some internet users.
A person related to myself in some way recently bought some products off the internet. Unfortunately the products never arrived and the sellers now refuse to make any form of contact with us at all.
As i am sure you agree, this is unfair and unjust. What's worse is that no police or authority want anything to do with us and neither do any of the services designed to prevent this sort of problem.
Could someone help???

My friend,
Sorry to say it but you and your relative have fallen to the vices of con-men. Its quite unfortunate that alot of people use the internet for dubious and fraudulent things.
I don't think you can get your products or money again. You have to be more security conscious when buying stuff online as this is not a person-person business tranaction.
E-commmerce and E-business is fast becoming the world preferred mode to transaction because of its numerous advantages but naive or ignorant folks have been duped/de-frauded.
When purchasing products from the internet check for the VERISiGN at the bottom. These sites have been evaluated and would not withhold your credit-card information for dubious purposes.
Never send cash through money transfer direct to seller because that means you have given him/her FREE cash. Its always possible to obtain a fake I.D. to collect money from these agencies.
If you must send money, send it direct to the sellers account, atleast your bank can verify bank account ownership.
Install a very good anti-virus and anti-spyware in your computer especially if your computer is connected to the internet. NOTE: Always update frequently. Spyware can be remotely installed in your computer and some steal personal information such as credit-card details, passwords, etc and sends it.
There are many ways these con-men operate and in different countries. Do not be deceived, they are not localized in any region, of one race(color) nor are they only male.
If you have their details no matter how insignificant, pass it on to the appropiate authorities in your country. The police alone might not be capable of handling online theft and advance-fee fraud.
Lastly, always be security conscious.

I am currently working on a project in Nigeria to avert young people from going on the internet to seek prey. Don't worry, net scams will be a thing of the past in a few years. I apologise on behalf of my country!
