Man is free but everywhere in chains

The French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseou once said that "man is free but everywhere in chains." This saying was borne out of his observation that human beings are confronted by lots of homo-cosmic entanglements that not only limit our freedom but enslave us in some cases. This explains why some people argue that slavery is a natural phenomenon. If this were to be true, then the eradication of human rights abuse becomes a far cry. Borrowing from the above premise and in the light of the ensuing arguement, what is your opinion on the modern forms of slavery vis-a-vis human trafficking, debt burden, neo-colonialism etc.? Please posit mature and non-derogatory arguments

I think all forms of slavery are bad. There is no need to buy and sell humans with rights and so on.

its true that we talk bout our independence but donot seem to understand that our extreme dependency on many things enslaves us .to some point i agree to what you ve posted but i think that nothin can exists on its own,,,,so in this way all men are bound in chains..this however doesnot mean slavery.
but as far as human traffeking is concerned it can be reduced, neocolonisation is ok....as nations on its own cannot thrive...n if slavery is natural, is it right to go something against nature??? i dunno. but i think slavery is something that is imposed and not natural.
it comes out of human greed and desire to have more money=power.....mmmmmm.....greed is natural n it leads to slavery.....!!!!! .....lol..i think slavery is natural.
