Who is GOD?
July 16, 2007 - 06:25 AM

Different people have different perception of who GOD really is.

Does HE/SHE really control our destiny?
Are we here on earth for a purpose?
Is there really a GOD behind creation?
What pleases or displeases this GOD?
What is your own perception of GOD?
Do you believe there is a GOD somewhere?
Do you think there is no GOD?

Give your reasons

Well if it was any other forum board, I would respond with "alanis morissette" however I don't think that would be so appropriate for this thread smile

Since you say yourself that people have different perceptions of God, I'll just tell you my personal opinion on your questions.

-No one controls our destiny. Not even ourselves. Why? Because we all effect each other. How can I control my own destiny when some jerk on a cell phone runs me down with his car.
-Maybe. Maybe not. I don't think we'll ever know. I would also answer this with "why do we need/want a purpose?"
-Maybe. No one can say. I certainly don't think the way we make it out to be. And I certainly don't think he created humans. I'm an evolution type of guy.
-If he does exist then that's a good question. Because if he does exist, I would say either nothing, or he's pre-occupied at the moment
-God can either be an alien being, or he can be the accumulated energy in the universe.
-I think humans are becoming closer and closer to what we view as "god"
-I don't know, so I'm not going to make a descision right now

Forgive me, my answers are too long to fit into one reply, so I’m breaking them up into two.

-Well, I think one would first have to subscribe to the theory of destiny for them to believe that someone or something controls it. Personally, I don’t think destiny exists. Or rather, we make our own. There’s nothing out there that is predetermined for humanity. You have to determine your future for yourself, God or no God. Does that mean God doesn’t know what we will determine? I don’t know, I just don’t think he/she decides it for us.
-No theory regarding the creation and/or formation of the universe designates human life as accident or coincidence, whether God is involved or not. I can’t say we have a distinct purpose, but we aren’t here by accident; and at any rate, I like to believe that we have some meaning in the grand scheme of things. Even if we don’t, really, what would be the point in life if you thought it all summed up to nothing?
-I’d like to think there is a God behind creation. I don’t, for one second, believe God just blew into his/her hand and the universe was there, I’d prefer to think that God created the science that put the universe in motion. For example, if you believe in the “big bang” theory, science is coming to find that something must have set the bang off, but it has no idea what. I think God might be that something.

-I have no idea what pleases or displeases God, but I do think he/she is forgiving of some of the darker parts of human nature.
-I see God as an instigator more than a controller. A grand architect, if you will. He or she planned everything out to work before the building began, and set the plan into motion. Once the initial construction was done, everything had been planned to develop on its own, and run just as it does. I see no accidents in our current universe, nor do I see something controlling it. It just runs as it was meant to, for that’s the way it was planned from the beginning. I also don’t believe that God is specific to any one religion. The monotheistic religions all celebrate the same God, just in different ways. And the polytheistic, I believe, find it easier to picture many faces of the same universal entity, as opposed to seeing just one. In the end, all the Gods and Goddesses sum up to the one universal being, and the one being can be broken down to all the Gods and Goddesses of the different religions of the world.
-Yes, I believe there is a God somewhere. Don’t know where, don’t know what he/she is doing there, but I think there is a God out there.
-Yes, in the sense that there is not some omnipotent being manipulating the universe like marionettes. As I said before, I think there is a God, I just don’t think that God is the universe’s air traffic controller.

sometimes i find it hard to believe the existance of god. sometimes i suspect the theory of evolution. but there are many evidences supporting evolution of life. just because there is no scientific basis for the existance of god need not imply that god does not exist. so i am in constant struggle with my conflicting opinions.
the question ' who is god?' cannot be answered by anyone with absolute truth in it. who knows it, and if somebody does, i would highly apprecaite if you could tell me bout it. but as you say that we all have diferent perceptions bout it, truth could, in this case be relative. what you regard as god may be very different to wat i idealise god to be. but let not your heart be swayed away so easily for your belief is what makes you the person who you are today. keep your belief strong and you are in control of your destiny and next time you will give a second thought before you ask this question again. and as far as wat pleases and displease god, donot worry much about it. even i donot know it, because i am not him but i believe that he would be much pleased seing us living our lives to the fullest rather than going into pointless dicussion of do;s and donts.

Although i myself am not sure of my beliefs in god, i do believe this.

God is no man or woman but both. God is not a he or she so i shall keep referring to god as god. God is not black or white but both. God is in your mind and physically in front of you, at all times. And God is not animal, mineral or vegetable. Why do we believe that to be a higher power...he has to be like us?

Maybe i just changed my own mind!!confused

The father,The son and The holyspirit.
A person does have a control on his/her own destiny.I do believe we are actually here for a purpose because God created our first parents and without them we could not exist.I believe God does exist coz he does answer our prayers.

God is a supernatural spirit,God is upthere, downhere and everywhere.

But he does not always interfare in our lives. He comes into our lives only when we invite him.

Our destinies are made by our actions and our inactions and the choices we make. God being so kind, has given us the power of free will, the power to make choices and each of these choices we make could mark our destinies.

This is my personal opinion of God.

I don't believe God can 'control' us in any way-faith in god may make us want to follow the commandments ect but this is not control but guidance. I probably have quite a different view on God -I don't see god as a corporal being more a coming together of beliefs to form this 'higher being' so it is more that we made god not god made us-so god is everywhere-inside us and our faith. i believe that 'god' is there to provide support, a way of life, and answers -yes god doesn't answer everything but neither does science (why there is something and not nothing for example-yes they have the big bang theory...but that doesn't answer why there was a big bang in the 1st place)

- God controls everything, not only our destiny!
god controls our thoughts, behaviors, things that happen to us, expereinces that we go through and alot of other things.
- of course we are here for a purpose!
do u think we've just been created for nothing?! just to live .. have fun and die?
of course not .. we are created to make a difference .. to help others .. to worship god and be thankful for Everything god gave us ( life, site, senses, feeling, health .. etc.)
- no question! i really don't understand how people asl this question. how do u think we existed? who created us? who created every single organ in our body? it just happend? sure not
God made everything in this life! and if u read " Qura'an" u would find an answer for every single qustion u asked!
don't get me wrong. i know that alot of other religions beleive in god .. but the truth could be found in "Qura'an" .. beleive me =)
- God is pleased with every good thing that people do in this world! even a single sensere smile to someone would please god! however, any evil or bad thing people does to each other or to themselves! would made god unplease!
like ( killing, suicide, vioelence, terrorism .. etc.)
and about the qeustion if i do beleive that there is a god somewhere.
I DEFINITLY DO ! God is everywhere in our lives .. there is only ONE God (Allah)! and god exists in every single place of the world .. watching us .. taking care of us and trying to guide us for the right way.

Thank u for ur topic .. and sorry if my reply was too long angelic

God Bless u!
