I think that every youth can contribute effectively to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by becoming an icon of development. The success of the MDGs cannot depend on the effort of the government or organizations alone. Individuals can facilitate the global effect of the MDGs by applying the tenets of these goals in their daily personal lives. Charity should, therefore, begin at home. Development is all about people, and one can effectively contribute to the MDGs by embarking on Personal Development Goals (PDGs). Thus, one becomes and promotes the change one wants to see in the world. What do you think?

That's right!
I believe poverty, hunger and many problems that we face today do not belong to special groups. They're worldwide and we should all try our best to find a solution to them.

There is an African saying 'the path is made by walking' - in reference to this, it is our own initiative, energy and drive that will make the change we want to see in the world.
We should not wait for others to do for us- let us initiate then others can come in and assist.

Be the change you want to see in the world
There are many issues and problems which we see everyday everywhere,But in some places it is more and in some places it is less.Now we want to solve that problems and some times something else we want but we can unable or without resources or because of some financial problems we can't do it.
So my opinion is this that if there is fully dark room and we want to enlight it but we not have much power to enlight it so this is possible that we take only one candle and put that candle in the room,a little light will come which will less the power of dark.
If all of us try upto our own power and burn only one candle in that room so one day that dark will be finish totally.

You gave nice example. As candles can remove soem dark, our little initiatives will be echoed and increased when all together.

This is definitely what i would want to hear from every youth.this way can the world or country we live in become a better place.i was just thinking if we can definitely get together,pool more people to come and then this is definitely a better way of sensitizing ourselves and our leaders as a whole.

honestly speaking here in the philippines majority of the youth doesnt know anything about the MDG unless you require them to research on that topic...

That quote by Mahatma Gandhi is my favorite quote. I think that it is powerful, and fits with the overall theme of this thread. Indeed, each of us, because we exist, possesses the power to create positive change. I think that it is an excellent idea for youth to start creating this change at the local level, which is where we presumable have the greatest understanding of the environment.

Absolutely!... and this is why I am so excited about this website!
It's an amazing feeling when you can fully absorb and grasp on to the fact that as youth we can actually change things. It's not something that is merely superficial, but changes can be made if we strive to and take things one step at a time.
Nothing is impossible, and when you understand this its a scary and phenomenal feeling all at once.
