i dont know about the salt water, but here are some websites on desert plants.

probably the best plan would be to find a botanist in your area. they would know more about what is best to plant. try to use plants native to where you live. good luck

here are two more sites that may help.

[link="http://www.kinghussein.gov.jo/geo_env2.html"]
also, try asking some older people from the are what used to grow there. maybe someone will remember some useful plants.

thx JennySmith for yr help
i'v tried all what u said .. but the thins is a bit more comlicated .. if u read on my profile .. my project ( greening mountains ) ... it sounds a crazy idea but for me i just can't stop thinking of all these huge mountains green ...
i checked the soil my self .. and did my researchs .. according to the old local ppl there used to be some plants specially after the winter .. but since many years ago there is no real winter .. so the point all the mountians now is arid with no plant on it ...
but there is some hope .. and i'll start my own experiment on a small sector of the mountain ( really small ) to see what can be grown there ... and what apply for few square yard will apply on handreds of acres for sure .
let's hope so ...
thx again for offering the help
Cheers
