Would you like to come and experience China next year?

Bejing is now busy preparing the 2008 Olympics, and almost everyone in China is counting the days. It would be a wonderful chance to come and watch the games. More attraction besides the capital are ready to welcome the foreigners.
However, there are some anti-China activists who claim to boycott the games. I would like to know your ideas about visting China and expericing its unique culture.

The Olympics are something I have always wanted to see in person and my dad came back from a trip to photograph some old steam engines with lots of slides of beautiful countryside. However, the human rights issues are very, very real as well.
Is your internet censored? Could you practice any religion freely? If you were to hold a peaceful demonstration that campaigned to upset the status quo, do you think your government would arrive with tanks or would they tolerate it?

My sister is going there next month with her friends. I am really looking forward to her input regarding the situation in China.
Personally I would love to go there and see the country. Its a big nation with big numbers and it is also our immediate neighbour( I am from India) so there is a natural curiosity to see how they are doing.
And I would really love to experience their culture.I am sure it would be really wonderful ! I have many Chinese friends and all of them are incredibly sweet and helpful
Moreover boycotting the games now would not achieve any purpose as far as i can see.
People should actually take advantage of this opportunity and go there and try to document the situation to bring it to daylight.
But this applies to not only China but to all the countries!

I have long wanted to visit China. I think its cultural history is fascinating! I have had some friends and family visit and they have enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately, its really expensive to fly to China from where I live and that is prohibiting me from going. I was going to go this summer before the Three Gorges Dam is completed but I can't afford it.
For those who are going--I hope they have a great time!!
