Hillary represents the establishment Democrates.

But that does not mean that Obama is a Mike Moore left winger.

I think Obama has more street smarts than the liberal left does -

What Obama wants is to represent the new Democratic establishment.

He is much more charismatic than Hillary and more authentic -

and some of the big money is starting to flow to him.

What Hillary has is alot of cash and Bill Clinton - who everyone loves.

Obama was faced with some skepticism - people want diplomacy with the Muslim world yes - and a different approach -

but they also want someone who will stand up when the occasion requires - and not get pushed around.

Obama went to Harvard Law, and when I see guys like Ari Emanuel lining up behind him and the Hollywood money - I don't imagine he will abandon Israel.

If Obama wants the Presidency he must demonstrate that he is capable of both talking and confronting our enemies.

This country has sworn enemies.

Hillary would definately hang tough - and she REALLY wants to be President - badly.

And she is probably still the favorite - she is leading in all the polls.

The problem with Hillary is that she would lose the general election - because alot of people don't like her and I think another guy like Gulliani would beat her.

He might even beat her in New York - and there is no way the Democrates win if they lose New York.

Obama is charismatic enough to win everything.

What I really think Udara - is that it is a year and a half till the next election and that is a long time.

And the Vice Presidents will be relevant - Edwards is basically campeigning to be the VP candidate again -

But basically he should not be the VP - because the VP should be someone with alot of experience -

Like Mike Richardson - 4 Nobel peace prize Nominations, ambassador to the UN

So far I am also backing Obama, and I don't care for Hillary at all.

I've been wondering whether there is much of a difference between these two, and also whether if the democrats come back to power it will make much of a difference either.
What are their plans for getting the US out of Iraq? I'd like to hear some American opinions on these two. Would hillary as president really be so different from obama as president? And will they change America?

Here's one vote for Hillary. I have been a Republican all my life, but Bush has "cured" me. I think during the Clinton's time in Washington, America was respected and the economy was good, there was a budget surplus. If only Bill could have kept his pants on!

I think Hillary is even smarter than Bill. Obama needs a little more experience before I would trust him. Whoever wins, Obama or Hillary, they will be tested by terrorism, just like the new Prime Minister in London was. These are dangerous times we live in.

I think the obsession with what Bill's pants was dangerous for the country - it was a distraction when obviously we needed to be dealing with terrorism.

I never remember hearing the Republicans during that period talking about terrorism - they were just trying to impeach Clinton over something basically meaningless - pure politics - and now they blame Clinton for not finding Bin Laden - they were not exactly encouraging him to look.

As for if anything will change - Lauren - you really don't think Hillary or Obama would be a change from Bush?

I think that is cynical to the point of being Naive - The last Clinton in office was certainly much different then Bush.

Obama is MUCH different then Bush.

They are still American - they are not going to suddenly allign themselves with North Korea and fight with the South.

They are not going to try to turn us into Socialists -

but they will radically shift the US position on global warming, on spending, healthcare, education, science, diplomacy - they will have an entirely different approach to problem solving.

That doesn't mean they will sit idol and watch Iran build nuclear weapons.

So the answer is YES - they will be substancially different from Bush -

but they are still American - so if you are looking for some kind of hippy government which rejects capitalism and bends over for Iran and North Korea -

well that is never going to happen because the American people would never vote for that kind of government.

No it's not. They also lived in different times when there were different circumstances. Don't call someone naive over what none of us can predict.

i like Obama. i think he'll have a new, original, and ingenious veiw on what America needs because of his background. his dad was an immagrant and he was born in Hawaii so I think he'll have both an outsider and insider's perspective of what America needs.

Just to clarify my question - it wasn't that I don't think there are any differences at all between Republican and Democrat. I just wonder what major difference there would be for America's major policies - like Iraq. Republicans and Democrats seem to be moving closer together in opinion lately.
And I guess I'm a bit skeptical that electing a democrat will really 'change' things. I think only a time machine could do that, at this point.
Although, it would be really awesome if Hilary made it. Then maybe Canada can get its act together and have a proper woman Prime Minister, too.

I agree with Laura's point. I don't think the democrats will make too much of a difference. They won the midterm elections and there hasn't been much change. I think we need to do away with both parties, as the majority, the middle class, isn't represented very well with either. The whole system needs to be redone, but for now we are stuck with voting for the lesser evil I guess.

My second thoughts to Laura and Jack. Hillary and Bush are almost the same.
