In the first [place it should not be allowed to be in existence at all.Children should not be allowed to work at a tender age, where it exists, the society sholuld come up in arms to phase the practice as its abuse to children and a violation of their rights.

I don't think that children should be paid the same amount rewarding them from any job compared to adults, simply because they should not be given a type of job that would be similar to adults'. Children are less powerful than adults, which means giving them less burden. However, I wonder, why having children not going to school rather than having them work? Unless, it's a summer/vacation jobs, internship, etc.

Since children often have to work as hard, if not even harder than adults they should be paid the same as adults.
Furthermore this would help concerning the problem, that the small wages children recieve decrease their parents wages, subsquently forcing people to let their children work. Additionely some children are used in positions no adult could fill as good as they.

although am against Child Labour ..in countries like India the wages that they get helps their families. There r children who has responsibilities towards their families so they opt for work than education. This is a sad thing, but there r few NGOs working towards abolishing child labour.
About the pay scale ,well the children doesn't know how much they deserve..their aim is to earn bread for the their families. So the employers take advantage of this.

By vartue of even discussing the issue of how much children should be paid or not, we have alresdy in ome sense given up the fight against child labour. However, we are living in a realistic world and there are some circumstances underwhich child labour can not be avoided. Take for example, when there is no one to provide for a family as in the case for most war torn areas, these childrean are forced to work to fill their stomachs. It does not solve any problem to force the employer not to employ the child when the child needs something to eat. The only solution maybe is to ensure that if the child has to work, (when no alternative is available), then regulations should be inplace to ensure that justice is done. For the issue whether, they should earn more than older people, I believe that they deserve more.

When paying someone it should be based on qualification and proformance. Naturally adults will be more qualiafied than children, but in the case where a child and adult have equal qualifications and are able to produce the same quality of work, they should be given the same wage.
A situation where a child is as equally qualified as an adult is in the low skilled factory jobs. Allowing children to be paid less than adults only lets corperations exploit them for factory jobs. A childs labor can be just as valueble as an adults labor so it should cost the same price. Wages should be based on proformance not age! *

everything about this child labour is wrong, cos whether you pay that child as equal as an adult;
he/she may misuse the money
he/she is not getting the proper empowerment due him
he/she is doing the wrong thing at the wrong time
he/she is not educated enough to take good decisions on his own.

firstly, say no to child labour,
secondly say no to child labour.
and lastly say no to child labour.
(and even if children and adult get paid equally, it wou;d be an injustice for adults because they are doing, but ofcourse, the job more efficeintly. however children labouring under any conditions are the greatest injustice to them, to those unemployed adults and to the nation as a whole)

children should NOT be working. however, i believe that the wages should depend on the task and the amount effort required to complete it. hopefully, those tasks set for children, even in such an unjust world, are somewhat less arduous than those set for adults.

to begin with, i would like to raise a question...
is charity a crime? a lot would argue in this line of thought when discussing about child labor...
for me...they should NOT be paid with the same amount is not even an issue because they are not suppose to be working (especially "adult works. second of all, they should not be payed the same amount because they will forget that they are NEEDED to be educated since they are already earning so we are depriving these children to alleviate their status. they will stagnate and these problem will never be solved even in a hundred years.
children have rights that we should uphold...

Based on my underdstanding of the issue children are employed because it is more economical and cost-effective to do so. They are also unaware of their rights and susceptible to being docile and work deligently, without seeking any benefits or rewards.
This makes them very employable, especially in countries where laws governing the same are not very stringent or not properly implemented. Hence the question of should they be paid at par with adults defeats the entire prupose of employng them. No where are children likely to be paid at par with adults. It need not be further mentioned that child labor is a crime and there is no excuse for it. People have choice to employ adults albiet at proper wages and not rob children of their right to a childhood.

As far as i am concerned,i can say that children should be paid the same amount as adults in places where child labor exists because if children do the same job than adults or spend the same amount of time in the same physical activity than adults, there is no reason for them to be paid less than adults, even if they are younger, but the fact of doing the same job, should lead them to be paid equally than adults.

What are we debating about? Child labour should not exist at all. It is therefore quite ridiculous to talk about the wages. Let me be the last to post on this thread.
