Mcdonald's Food
April 20, 2003 - 12:39 PM

|
All my life I have been conditioned to believe that McDonald’s is a fun place with tasty food. The treats of the week, the colorful characters like Hamburgler and Grimace, the commercials, all of this has brainwashed me into believing that I like eating at McDonald’s.
When I see those golden arches I get an animal desire to eat a Big Mac, or Chicken McNuggets. I am reminded of my dog's reaction to seeing me take out her food bowl.
Did I mention that I hate their food?
It sucks. It's unhealthy and of poor quality.
Eating at McDonalds makes me feel defeated. Every time I eat there I swear it is the last time.
But weeks later I have forgiven them for their last assault on my stomach. I always seem to give them another chance, perhaps because I am conditioned to love them.
I need help, Ronald has lead me astray.
Does anyone else have a sickly attachment to McDonalds?

Mike you are a response ninja! Like the first e-mail I sent to TIG, 2 seconds later I got a response from you.
I fear I will fall victim to McDonald's again, it's too close and my will is frail against its charms.

You are right. Mc Donalds is sickening because first of all people that are vegetarians can't eat french fries because the people who make it now uses cow oil and not normal oil.

Willis, you are hilarious! And long ago I began to think good old Ronald was really a pedofile in disguise.
DON'T GO TO MCDONALDS!
McDonalds is so aweful I cannot ever begin to tell you. It depends how you look at it though.
Try and read "Fast Food Nation - The Dard Side of the American Meal" by Eric Schlosser (I didn't spell his name right) if you can. It will open your eyes to the reality of the fast food industry. It's a really good book.
Apart from nutrition, it depends on how you choose to live your life. If it is merely a 'combo' for a few bucks then that's what it is. For many people McDonalds is much more than that, and with good reason. It is notoriously unhealthy...I could describe it, but just read the book. And don't eat fast food.

Downunder in Oz, McDonalds is now always just down the road. It is so easy just to go there and have something quick to eat.
But....
IT SUCKS!!!!
Everybody hates it. Even there "New tqastes Menu" is pretty bad.
Peace

Mac Donalds is okay i guess. I mean it tastes pretty good but I don't really feel like eating it because I know that it is un healthy. Espacailly after I heard the rat head rumor. About someone finding a rat head in one of the Mc chicken burgers. I mean that is just grost. By the way is that rumor really true??

Macdonalds food is of poor quality and the taste shows. I am suprised that Macdonalds is the number 1 fast food chain in the world. Studies show that Macdonalds' hamburgers are compiled of maggats and beef, the maggats are used to keep the meat fresh and it doesn't make it go bad.
To answer your question Sukhpreet there was

guys - that food will kill you. We're all young so the toxins we put in our body do not have an immediately recognisable effect but... A few years down the road all that fat and garbage will come back to haunt you. It is like smoking ciggarettes - the effects, like cancer, don't hit you until years later - but sooner or later you will pay for abusing your body.
Have you seen the obscenely obease people who eat Mcdonalds every day - the grease has ruined their skin and hair, the fat has ruined their bodies - come on this is a no brainer.
Just say no to crappy food!

Too bad McD's is just a few steps away now at the corner huh?
Seriously though, at least they have some somewhat decent 'healthy' choices here in Canada. I *love* the Veggie Burger, and the Chicken Fajitas they have now are pretty good.
At least they cook the veggie burgers fresh because they're ordered so rarely... hamburger patties setting in their own 'juice' for up to 15 minutes before being thrown out? Nahhhhot for me. It's been a few years now!
Your experience for me is more like Taco Bell.... when the sounds of 'yo quero...' hit the ears of others in the office, they must have forgotten the last time I reminded them never again. But the bean burrito and cinnamon twists summons us...

Driving back from an easter retreat in the bush near Mansfield this afternoon, we got the munchies. Coming towards the outskirts of Melbourne we were confronted by the patchwork of urban sprawl and market garden farms, with interspersed shopping strips.
In one such locale, North Epping I think, two new buildings faced each other across the road, one McDonalds, one hungry jacks (burger king). I dont eat at Mcdonalds, I'm not a fan of their food or advertising campaigns, so we went to Hungry Jacks.
It made me think, who does like McDonalds food? No one I ever says they "like the taste" of the food, generally those who eat at McDonalds do so because it "is there" and they know what'll they get, "the food tastes the same." True, McDonalds is everywhere, and the food tastes the same, but is that really an acceptable excuse for people?
The McDonald Brothers Speedee Service idea has transformed our world, the marketers must be laughing. But just as the times changed to allow the rise of the fast food restaurant, so it can and will change again, leaving McDonalds behind (but for their massive commerical property portfolio). Let's hope its sooner than later.
btw Jacob - you spelt Schlosser's name right, Fast Food Nation is a great, if somewhat disturbing book.

Us Humans are very picky. We only eat what is pleasing to the eyes and taste buds. Mc Donalds Might taste great but the so called "nasty" ingredients are just rumors. Who's asking Vegetarions to eat fries? Why don't they go to a tofu stand? MC Donalds are for Mainly meat eaters
