Important Questions..Need answers plz

hi
i'm a msulim univ. student from Jordan, doing a research about islam and its image around the world
if u r a non-muslim or a muslim living abroad, I would appreciate it a lot if you could plz answer these questions:
what is the general idea that you have about Islam?
Where do you get information about Islam?
Are you alright to deal with muslim people? if no plz say why
what do you think about muslim women? family? muslim people in general?
do you think that media gives you the right image about islam? do you think it gives you the right image about anything at all?
i need these questions answered for my research as soon as possible, so plz no matter what ur opinion is, i need you to answer honestly and freely

One thing obvious is that people who don't welcome new people or new ideas are always fools and isolated I do not welcome people as of religion, tribe or colour etc...but I see all my fellow as God at present!.
People's private/personal characters differs that is it and nothing else.
For me I want to associate with many people to learn and understand this life which is a school itself.
I might not answer all your question as you may expect but I should say all of us are from one source and effectively free to associate, don't let nobody decieve you.

1)Quran
2)books
3)scholars
4)family
5)friends
6)print/electronic media [depend upon sources]
Are you alright to deal with muslim people? yes I do
what do you think about muslim women? family? muslim people in general? women as an important part of family, family as a vital part of society, muslim ppl in general as good humans no matter how much fundamentelist they are but tolerate other religions.
do you think that media gives you the right image about islam? do you think it gives you the right image about anything at all? No!! Not at all atleast baised most of the time [AGAIN depend upon sources]
i need these questions answered for my research as soon as possible, so plz no matter what ur opinion is, i need you to answer honestly and freely

In the real world I have only known 3 Muslims but through TIG I have come to know several Muslims. And for the most part I have noticed that people are the same all over the world.

hello iam a hindu from India.we have sizeable population of muslims.we minglw wih them without any prejudices.Muslim women are very hardworking ,ihave seen this while working on a social welfare project for them.many atimes beign Islamic is confused beign okay with millitantism by wesern or white people.We south Asians have nos south attitude as we know Jehad is not about terrorism.Islam is a good religion as it granted women equal rights in shariyat and holy quran centuries okay.Its not against any religion or sect.mnay a times europeans or Americans fail to appericiate this.In India at the lower strata the problem among muslim women is about lack of education and health care.

i totally agree with you
however, not all people on earth have the same view of thinking
i would like to know. why do some people misunderstand Islam, where is the problem?

in my opinion, problem is in minds of muslims first, they give wrong messege about islam and now non-muslims are using that iamge again and again, now even if some muslims says something rigth, non-musilms quote the foolish, stupid ideas given by some by-name muslims.
infact, muslims all over the world caused disgrace for islam. every body must know that isalm and muslims are two different facts, and not everything a muslim do is islam.
we need to improve our image by negotiations, dialogue and friendly relations with all.

what is the general idea that you have about Islam? A religion similar to Christianity and Judaism, just interpreted differently. The prophet Mohammed is very important. They worship God (Allah).
Where do you get information about Islam? From people who are muslim.. Also I have seen specials on it on the Discovery Channel and PBS.
Are you alright to deal with muslim people? if no plz say why? I treat everyone equally. Even though we may be different, we are all human. We may worship a different god, but we are the same people.

do you think that media gives you the right image about islam? do you think it gives you the right image about anything at all? It depends. Some of the media proclaims all islamists being terrorists, and never says that islam is a peaceful religion.. Some sources say different, the truth.. I guess it depends on who you ask

Its the basis of all religions, you want to seek how to be a better person. It happens in all religions, not just islam. All the muslims I have met have been really kind and want to learn more how they can become a better muslim.

batool thanx for checking out the thread and helping in it
he did...but i chose the essay anyway...i'm doing it now more for me than the professor..i wanna learn more and research this issue

actually this is the purpose of this whole search, i'm researching the reasons why we're being misunderstood all over the world

hi, the probelm arose with our image after we stoped dialogue, among muslims and with non-musims, u know that non-muslims while refereing to an issue give u examples of jews saying something. what is this? why not muslims try to do something to get in touch with non-muslims. in the univeristy where i study, we have an Islamic Research Insitute, they have worked to translate 100 great books of islamic civiliztion into english, that will help alot. non-muslims will understand what islam is, how it is interpreted by our scholars. so islamic scholars are responsible mainly for our problem.
then the musilms generally are responsible, why they did not build pressure on scholars to represent true islam instead of highlighting stupid issue, like amin Bil jahr, or rafa ul yadain. no advantage of these problems could be seen. the difference of Schools of thought highlighted by scholars and accepted by people, it is wrong. Haroon ur rahsid prayed behind Aby yousuf, abu yousuf was chief justice of haroon, he prayed behind haroon. shafi prayed on hanafi style in iraq.
to conclude, muslims indulged in subsidiary problems ignoring the real issues, u c today, they are far behind other religions, civilizations.
when non-muslims will hear to muslims defining islam, interpreting islam as Abu hanifa, malik, shafi, ahmad, abu yousuf, ghazali ... did, our image will be far more better than today.
