I think violent video games reflect on society. But if a 6 year play these games they might tolerate violence. I personally don't like those games but I think if you are mature enough to or you are an adult who knows better then feel free.

I think that the severity of the problem really depends on the person playing the game. Of course, there are certain age groups that are much more impressionable than others, and they may start to imitate what they see on the screen in real life. I think that as long as the person is totally aware that the game is nothing more than a game and that that kind of behaviour in the real world is completely unacceptable, then they will be much less likely to be as affected by the images on the screen. As long as the player can differentiate good from bad in real life, I don't see the problem with violent video games, but if someone begins to imitate the game, then obviously there will be a problem.

violent games are cool you cant take them away. sure little kids shouldnt play them but me personaly as a teen am at that stage when we like playing that kind of game it takes the stress out if what ever we were doing before. its just like how work-aholics are addicted to coffee. would you take the coffee off them?? or if a baby had a pacifier would you take THAT off them.??

they're bad because they ARE. BUT ONLY FOR LITTLE KIDS. IMAGINE A LITTLE BABY SHOOTING SOME GUY ON THE COMPUTER. He'll just be like : hey mommy, i killed my first person today! aren't u proud? smile
but if you dont like violent video games then blame the PARENTS that buy it for their little three year olds.
i mean, spoiling a child isn't the child's fault, it's the PARENTS. I mean, even if your kid begs and threatens until they get what they want, IT'S STILL YOUR FAULT!!!!!!!!

Personally, I don't believe that violent games are the main reason why people kill each other. People have been killing each other ever since mankind could walk. Also, if you look at violent countries, like the wars going on in Africa, you can see that majority of those people do not have game stations that allow them to play these games. So I don't think that violent games are the reasons for people killing each other.
However, I do agree that violent games and movies and TV shows are very unhealthy, especially for young brains. Not only do these things teach and expose people to bad things, it also raises your stress and adrenialine (spelling?)to unhealthy levels for a long period of time. This puts a lot of stress on the body and mind. Also I believe that it alters the mind to think that what you are seeing is ok and normal. Agressiveness, unruly behaviors, and selfdestructiveness are some of the many effects of violence on media. I don't enjoy these things and I am glad that I have never really been interested in it.

On one aspect I agree that certain age limitations should be set of certain video games depending on the amount of blood/gore, profanity, and nudity. However, I do not agree that video games are bad for you regardless. Children and teens know that they are playing video games and not shooting guns, racing cars, or fighting dragons. It is a form of entertainment that is meant to be fun. Video games do not promote youth violence but help to suppress it as it is a deterrent to actual violence. Again, not every kid should be able to play every game on the market, but they children will know the difference between fake and real violence and not act differently because of it.
