Why in Africa? I guess it happens only in Africa.

Why are authoritarian leaders drawn to leadership in Africa?
Where are the people who can lead by example?

Poverty and cultural defects has made it possible for those band of leaders to emerge.
We are the future leaders that are starting to shape the Africa soil.
You are not left out. So start from now to effect changes within your village.

Remember that once upon a time, everywhere was under the control of an authoritarian ruler.

well, i think you are wrong because, not all leaders are like that. But for theose make into power and act that way, is a mistake because most of them present themselves as sheep and also majority of the people who vote for them are ilitrates.
Until we realise this, the continent would continue to be ruled by people who donot know what they are about.

are u implying that tyranny is only in africa??
Don't get me wrong Africhika, of all the continents, where is bad governance and dictatorship rampant and at its worst.
We need to stop looking the other way and accept that we have self inflicted problems and grab the bull by the horns and tackle our issues head-on. We vote incompetent leaders and spend the next couple of years complaining, yet the youth's comprise the larger population in most countries, especially in Africa.

I dont think the issue of authoritarian leaders affects only the African continent, look at countries like Iran,Iraq, lets just say its the level of tolerance in a country,s citizen,s to such leaders that makes authoriatian leaders rule for wrong and mostly Africans tend to let things be as long as they live to see each new day,may be thats why authoritanianism seems to be so prounounced in the continent, its because the continent was under authoritative colonial powers for a long time and the leaders who took over did not embrace change but they instead embraced neo-colononialism.

I think only problem of Africa is education. Educated people can save their rights Your first thing to do is studying, studying and studying. For example after World War 2 , Germany's position was very bad but one that country has one of the best life conditions.
Thanx.

many of africa's problems are rooted in ignorance, greed, and imperialism. but if u do research, u will find that each african tyrant was supported by an industrialized nation (maybe usa or a european nation).
