Rampage on an American university campus.

The massacre at BLACKSBURG, Va. is the reflection of the changing mind set of our present young society. The change in the mind set of young people is due to war, loots and especially because of the Bond, MI, and similar kind of movies. It is, indeed; a shock to see that a young boy with two loaded guns killed 31 innocent people without any genuine reason and then in a mystery killed himself. Young blood is the future and one cannot expect it to be so out of control.
Today people are becoming more and more egoists and show no control over their emotions. Anything that happens against their interest makes them uncomfortable and angry to death. What has happened in Virginia can happen in any part of the world. To control this we have to control our emotions and should posses the knowledge of understanding. Government must also take steps to check the easy availability of weapons and materials used in it.

I know. This is just HORRIBLE. How could someone do that? Agrr, I know I can't really do anything (it already happened), but I REALLY want to do something.

What happened at VT was horrible, no two ways about it. Virginia is my home, my blood, and I love that place. That said, I know the HS and the town the shooter came from, and to me, it says a lot about his mindset.
The first caveat I want to point out is that this can happen anywhere, anytime. Second, we're going to assume away the violence-glorification that is world currency at the moment.
The place he hails from... never have I seen such a high-pressure atmosphere. From birth in that part of town, the suburbs of Washington DC, you are conditioned to Succeed Or Else. How do you succeed? Make the money, get the degree, pack that resume. That is the only standard of success that is really valued. I'll guarantee you that the pressure of having to succeed had a lot to do with his obvious self-loathing, and horribly manifest outward loathing.
It raises the question, what are we doing with our lives? Are we wasting them in pursuit of things we really don't care about? Maybe so, but some are ballsy enough to step away and seek happiness, instead of wallow in self-indulgent misery, like our shooter.
Whatever. I'm still numb from it all. I've been to those places at Tech, my friends were there, it's been a bad, bad week.
