Canada should not sell its Water

Personally, I believe that Canada should not be selling it's water to other countries because Canada itself already has a high population, and we don't even have that much for ourselves! Only 9% of our water can even be replenished! So we should keep our water so that people in our own country can be fed water. Although other countries are water poor, we don't want that to happen to us. If they are so poor they cant even afford their own water, how are they supposed to have enough money to buy OUR water? If we do sell our water to other countries, what if we end up water poor? If we try to buy the water back, we couldnt because they used it all up! If they did have any fresh water left over, they would sell it for more money than we sold it to them. Although we have a lot of the fresh water in this world, there are also other countries they can buy water off of, not just Canada. If we sell our water, the amount of water we have will be decreased, not only will some of our water be given to poor countries, only 9 percent of our water will be replenished. This means that our water supply will shrink til we have absolutely nothing left to use.

Tarnjit, Canada can sell enough water to make sure Canada doesn't go water poor. Besides we can trade other good for water. If Canada sells to wealthier countries, we can make a profit. With that profit well can make the machine which converts salt water to fresh water. Ms.Lim mention that it is possible, except it only has one obstickle, the cost. So with the money, we can create the machine, making more money and with all the fresh water we won't get water poor.

Even if we do sell our water to wealthier countries, what good will it do. It's not like we can raise the price, seeing how we ain't the only country who is water rich. So what kind of profit will that be? Won't be one in which we can't make the machine which converts salt water to clean water.

Some countries have money, but not alot . If we don't get enough money, we can get help from U.S,or better yet The U.N. Since they are involved, they will have to give us the money. With the money we can make the machine. In the end we have enough water and so do they.

I disagee with Nanthagoban. How do you know if the U.S. will help us? After all, we didn't assist them in the Iraq war. There's no point of getting the machine because we already have more water than we want. It's foolish to waste money on something we don't need. If we leave the way things are, then nothing will change.

It is because of us human beings that there are so many shortages of water around da world. So now, we Canadians, are being selfish, once again, to sell water, and make money off it, for us???!! Think about how this hurts our environment!! Water is'nt just something you can sell and be done with it!! Water is precious to us, it's part of mother nature, the Earth!! That WE live on!! So if u wanna keep on living on it, then don't export the water!!!

Here is an article on iceberg harvesting for niche markets:
http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2002/03/curtis.htm
I have seen a lot of discussion about selling Canada's water everywhere. Unlike liquified natural gas (LNG) that is shipped around the globe, water is not very compressable. Has anyone calculated how many tankers of what size (not to mention the costs) that would be needed to ship so much water?
Maybe selling Canadian water is another sceme (e.g., icebergs, large-scale desalination, etc) to avoid making real decisions about water management where the problems really are.
