Education

Education is a very important part of life. Without education in this world , u will have to be living a life where u have to wake up early in the morning and then coming late at night. Education will help us in the future and it will also give us respect in the community. A man living on the streets compared to a wealthy man like Mike Harris. It is obvious who gets a better respect.
I think in today's world , education is the most important thing for young kids.

I agree because most people take education for granted and don't do well in school. Most of these people end up thinking they will be a singer or an actor/actress, but there is a 80% chance that these people will NOT get famous and they will end up getting an job that pays less and works more hours

Hey, I think you are right in a way. I mean education is the thing that helps you become what you want. I mean playing is okay sometimes, but studing comes first.

your right education is very important in our life. Without education we wouldnt get a great job that we want. we get alot of knowledge if we have education. People do take education for granted. Usually other people will respect you more if you have education. Education will definately help us in the future.

i agree that education is indeed very very important especially in the world we are living in now. But look, Education should not just entails the academic part alone, where you learn sciences, and do endless maths questions, sit for tests, exams and fullstop. NO. I feel that education should add more human factors to it. Look at the world we are living in now, people dying of hunger, younger children in Thailand working as sex slave, riots and mass bombings, killings etc that step out from prejudice and discrimination of all sorts e.g religion, race, colors, sex.
Education can make wonders. By inculcating the right values, the right mindset, the right attitude could make everyone a better person at heart. this in my opinion is the most important thing we all should get to learn from Education. Papers and certificates are just to show the world the amount of papers you had sat for, the amount of books and problems you had done but it will never be enough if one fails to use its power.
Thats just my opinion. (",)

education must promote a culture of peace

I agree also. But I think we need to qualify a little bit by what we mean by "education". Not all education (learning and teaching) are good. Education must, among others, empower a person to learn how to live with the others and with nature, given the diversity of human cultures and our biodiversity. Education must enable a person to value these diversities, rather than destroy them. That is why, there are many educators and trainors who engage deeply in "peace education" to promote a culture of peace.

Yes, but who is to be the judge? I agree all the way that education is important. It gives us to power to express ourselves, to learn how to live with our environment rather than in it, to learn understand and to realise new truths and old ones. Yet, who is to judge what is to be taught? And who can tell if what is taught will not be devoured whole and not digested?
I admire most teachers, the ones who aspire to pass on knowledge and groom the young. However, I do not agree with some methods and goals of education, and yet sadly, I cannot say that they are invalid. For example, in my country, most of the goals of students is to score in tests and exams. It is not that they seek knowledge and the power it holds. Just recently, there was a reader who wrote in to comment on how my country's education system is stifling creativity in the young. Answers have to be as stated in the answer key. No exceptions. Ironic isn't it? We ask for creative entrepreneurs to spur new innovations, yet, our schools are stuck way back in the past, rigidly following rules. Yet I do not deny that too much freedom is no good. Seems like it is so difficult to find a balance nowadays.

Yeah, it's quite amazing how to learn to be free we first need limits. I guess it's because our idea of freedom involves giving up some of our personal freedoms for the sake of general well being. But that idea is sometimes ignored in the classroom and kids end up being told what to do and what not to without ever being told why (of course, this isn't in all places)
for me, Education should be a lot about asking "why?", empowering people to seek their own anwsers and teaching how to think. A lot is thrown in our direction to learn and memorize without ever being explained why we need all that information (oh, right, I know remember: "it's to pass the college entrance exam" teachers say expecting us to be satisfied) Hopefully, their will be a lot more liberty of choice in the future--but that doesn't necessarily mean children have to choose everything. But I think if the courses had their importance explained and more contact with our everyday lives, we would appreciate it much more and *want* to learn the courses unstead of being forced to.

My opinion about eduacation is that alot of people don't
take education very serious until they really get into it.
I think eduacation should always be tooken very serious at all times. Education is the key of making a very successful life. Without it we all will be very lost. Our minds will be very uneduacated and we just want be right at all so I reallty think education should be number one!

I argee that education is a part of life it can be hard but only if you make it. Argue with the teachers, disrupt the rules or break them. people don't know how important education is most people muck up their chances and abuse them. people like that r people how don't care about anything not to do with them.
