human life objective
April 9, 2007 - 04:03 PM

What is the supreme goal of a human being, let apart the egotistic inclination to material satisfaction, a rapture over small accomplishments of spiritual or physical nature and a self-deception of fullness of one's life?

Love? happiness? self-fullfilment? better future?

H.

Nice thread H. You are asking the question that everybody is looking for an answer for.
God tells us that the main purpose for the human creation is to worship him. But, the question is how. Worshipping God doesn't mean living in a mosque or a church doing nothing except praying. It means fulfilling the purpose through making the world a better place for living, under God's obedience. It means that you have to work, be useful, get married, build a family, have children, raise them well. During Omar 's khelafa, he saw a man doing nothing but praying day and night, so he asked how was he financially supported, and they told him that his brother worked and supported him. Omar said that the working brother, is better than the praying brother.

You were right when you said 'small' accomplishments of a spiritual or physical nature.Life is so dynamic that most of the 'big' things you do end up being just a tiny fraction of the whole that defines you.If it was not that then, then we'd be committing suicide the moment we thought we'd accomplished our lifes objectivebig grin! But then again that may be impossible, because sometimes they are so hard to achieve you just do the best you can and make peace with yourself at the end of it all, with the knowledge that you tried your best.
Personally,I accept my life may not be perfect and that I may not be happy or satisfied with all I get(After all how can you fully appreciate happiness without having experienced sadness, or the value of health when you've never seen sickness) but I know that at the end of it all if I made a lasting impression(a positive one!) on anyone's life either existing or yet to come and was at peace with myself, my God and fellow men and women then my life had been worth living!

There's no supreme goal of a human life, because there's no human life as an active process. Only ACTIVITY can be purposeful!
If you mean life as biological process then the goal of life is to survive (to breathe air, to consume food and water, etc.).
If you mean life as "the union of the soul and body; also, the duration of their union" (and other philosophical interpretations of this notion) there can be no supreme purpose, as least no purpose a human being is aware of or is "in charge of". No human being creates his/her own life. A person may have more then 20 or 30 children, but is incapable of giving birth to him-/herself! If there's no active participation in the process of beginning of life (and ending isn't usually under our control either) how can any creature think of any global, supreme goals of his/her existence?! The right answer - nohow! We can't be absolutely sure that we DO what WE want to do or that we PLAN what no one before us ever planned for US. The history of previous generations, the load of words once uttered, papers once published, deeds once performed, may be the only factor that schedules our lives. The combination of random things-of-the-past can predestine everything for this very person, for the group of people joined together (according to the same will of CHANCE), for the nation, for the generation...
So the objective of every human life is to CREATE a personal world where he/she can reach his/her personal goals being a good parent, a soldier, a writer, anyone with humane or inhumane goals.
In the objectively existing world there's no place for human objectives as for every creature creator's ideas are chaos. And it's no tragedy!
big grin

The purpose of human life is to manipulate and wage war against other nations, people and even different animals to gain supremacy in this planet, and subsequently destroy the planet.

For some humans the human life objective is to find the human life objective.

For others, it is to live the whole process of looking for the objective, the route of looking for the objective, which ultimately becomes the objective itself!
