I am working on a project on Britian and I have a few questions, please feel free to answer and share as much as you like. First, what are the popular talk shows in Britain? What type of commercials do you like? What is the best method of advertisement, commercials, the internet, catalogs, etc.? Do you like american food/ deserts like cookies (a diffrent form of a biscuit)? What are the most popular holidays and how do you celebrate them? Is gift giving popular in Britain? Well I think that is all of my questions! If I come up with more I will post them, but please reply as soon as possible. Everything you tell me will be put to good use!! Thank you!!!

Britain's a bit odd,
we import a load of shows and culture from America.
But we're definitely not dependent on it.
In TV shows there's more absorption of themes than copying the program. Things like Jerry Springer and Oprah are popular (obviously nothing like wallowing in other peoples misery).
In interview shows there's a few people. Jonathan Ross being an obvious one.
Drama and comedy have loads of american imports (ER, Scrubs, Friends, OC and all that kind of thing) but british programs like Life on Mars or Bodies do well in terms of drama.
Rather than having loads of sitcoms in comedy we have lots of sketch shows and stand up panel games (never mind the buzzcocks, 8 out of 10 cats, dead ringers). Satire like 'mock the week' is popular as well.
Dunno what else you want to know

I think some of the most popular talk shows are things like trisha, agree with johnathon ross, friday night project, and i think match of the day. Yes it is a football programme but think about the number of people who watch it and comment on it? does it have to be political to be a talk show? Funny commercials alwalys get alot of attention but i personally like the adverts which are asthetic and dramatic e.g the sony bravia adverts are amazing. best form of advertising would definitely be t.v as not as many people listen to the radio now thanks to the IPOD. But the internet is another significant place to advertise even though many people dispise it. Oreos and herseys are the best but apart from that... american food? what like tex mex or cajun food which is especially nice. bank holidays. definitely the most important holidays but apart from that easter and christmas.
