I WANNA KNOW HOW AUTHENTIC TAKINGIT GLOBAL IS

I,ve been a member of taking it global for about 2yrz now .And for these years i've been studying this society , i call it society because its like an organisation for the youths.
It has alwayz been a good thing to me for being a member of an organisation where you could share ideas of anything and also an organisation where the youths voice from Africa and the whole world could be heard clearly.
Sincerely speaking,Am alwayz proud to be a member of TIG coz it has good reputation.
But to my greatest surprise,An Event Tagged "UK/NIGERIA YOUTH ALLIANCE" was to be held Manchester in the United Kingdom on the 4th of April 2007. And its purpose was to enlighten the two countries on the issue affecting youths in these countries.
I had to get all this information from TIG's site .I did apply with some of my friends whom i think would have contrbuted immensly on the issue of affecting the youths in Nigeria.
But i was so amazed to find out that the co-ordinator(Mr Akinyemi Ajibade) for these programme in Nigeria is a fraudstar he collected the sum of N30,000 from each of my two friends that applied and assured them that in two weeks time they will be jetting out to England to attend the seminar.
But till date we have not gotten any information from him instead he switched of his telephones and we could not get accross to him and i believe he has duped my friends and also tanished the image of this great organisation of high reputation.
I dont think TIG is real and wat about you?.

Very Sad to hear about this act, however that does not mean to say TIG is not a good platform.
Although i am not a staff of TIG to comment officially, but as a member that see a lot of good of the organisation i know i am not mistaking when i joined this innovation.
As for your Akinyemi Ajibade event one of the things you should have done was to find out if such event is really on line, one of such would have been to find out from the TIG staffs or your local Embassy.

Very sad,
I can feel you.
As a Nigerian I guess by now we should all be familiar with internet fraud.
We should understand the language of scam in Nigeria, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) are trying their best.
You were suppose to cross check.
Check your facts before giving them your money.
I also saw the event announcement. But I was sceptical.
TAKING IT GLOBAL IS REAL
I am not a staff, like the earlier writer wrote, but I can authoritatively tell you that it is not right to hold them responsible. You have a right to air your grivences though, but it is not fair to generalize it.
We all know what some joblessNigerians do.
A girl called me last night, told me she got my phone number from TIG. All she wanted was, if I know any event that could take her to the United States.
This is sad.
I was put off immediately.
Meaning she does not share the vision or mission of becoming a voice unto our generation, which is what I believe in.
This is a very big house and it is natural that you will meet all kinds of people.
Try and get your money back.
But don't generalize pls.
We have lots of Nigerians here and we do not want to be black listed.

Am so glad that i got good replies from other members including the online community manager Maldaline Hamilton.
But am not yet satisfied ,Coz its difficult for me to have a change of mind towards what i thought TIG is,But i have to accept it the way it is for now.
And moreso i think its high time the executives of TIG set up a commitee that would alwayz investigate what ever event being placed on this site and also to get directly involve in any event that itz being placed on this site.
I dont think itz wise for you to admit something you dont get directly in.
Why am saying all these is because of the problems TIG will encounter in future as a rersult of fraud and itz reputation .

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the information posted on the TakingITGlobal website. While we do have a screening process, it is often difficult for us to ensure the validity of everything submitted.
Unfortunately, this is not the first incident of fraudulent events being posted. In order to address this issue (as Madelaine has explained) we have been working on how to improve ways for us to help members who are browsing our events to identify a possible scam. It would be helpful if you had a look at this list:

and let us know if you have feedback. We will better promote this on our site (making a more obvious link from each events page).
Over the years, we have found most of the fraudlant events posted to come from Africa. We are launching a project called Creating Local Connections West Africa, where we will have local coordinators in five countries, including Nigeria. We will be asking these coordinators to assist in verifying the events on the site to ensure they are legitimate.

There are things in life that happen at certain times. It is unfortunate that you had this. But please keep pressing forward. I have had communication with serval members of the TIG community some by phone and email.
I'm sure you will have a better experience the next time around.

Yes, it is sad to know about these acts, but it is also true that this happens in every online community or forum.
I have also encountered members (not a lot, just one for now) that was asking for money.
But also, Taking ITGlobal has proven for me to be a great website and a very useful community and unethical people can really be found in every community. It happened to a member of my family that's part of another community, he was contacted for a very interesting job and then it was all a fake.
The important thing is to be aware of this, be careful and definitely keep oneself a fair and responsible behavior.
I really like TIG, it's been an opportunity to grow as a person and to finally amek myself aware of the world that does exist around.
