[Poll] Can corruption be a good thing?

There is a book called 'Crime and Punishment' by a Russian writer whose name I can't remember right now that talks about a poor young student who kills a rich old moneylender. He rationalises that if he killed her and stole her money it would be for the good of mankind and therefore moral (he was very generous where the old lady was extremely selfish-she planned to donate all the money to monastery upon her death even though she had a suffering younger sister)
It got me thinking, now suppose the rich corrupt men in our society used an amount of the money they stole(because we know its a lot of money) for a generous purpose, for example to fund research into aids, start scholarships in their names for bright young students, or funds to support specific causes e.g environmental conservation would it be alright with you?
Would it?
Absolutely not!?!

Its by Dostoevsky, and I'm not sure what you suggest would work. Shouldn't we just ask for no corruption in the first place instead of corruption with "good intentions". Its kind of like going to war for peace or something. I don't know, thats how I see it.

A little good does not justify a lot of bad. But a little good is better than no good at all.
