Ways to reduce stress.
March 22, 2007 - 06:54 AM

I reduce my stress by turning down activities that won’t fit on my busy time schedule or that will compromise my mental health. I also pray.
Some people do it through drinking, what about you, how do you do it?

Well....mine is a bit on the mind side, i dont believe there'e anything worth getting stressed about. And when i feel like am getting a little depressed all i do is go to a quiet place and think of the best things in life that have happened to me and i appreciate myself more. That's the beauty of associative conditioning.

I agree with what was said above- about not letting myself get stressed about everything. Although I know there are times when I take on too much without realising or when you seem to have no time- I like to chill with some good music- classical or jazz/blues, chocolate and/or a good book. It's the simple things that remind you that the world isn't always as terrible as it seems.big grin

Dont take on what you can deal with. And when do, know when you cant cope any longer.

The most effective way for me to reduce stress is exercise..running..pilates..swimming..
However.. when I'm very stressed..I pray and I dont stop until I feel de-stressed.. It works wonders *

Running hard usually works. Intense exercise is a good stress-buster.

Another alternative is just eating something. Food in the system usually calms a person.

I cannot claim to be an artist but I like to draw when I'm stressed-it's really therapeutic, whatever the outcomebig grin! I think whatever distracts you from the present worry will always work.
However like someone said, appreciating the little things in life will go a long way in changing your outlook toward stuff you would have otherwise regarded as stressing.

Listening to music and exercising is really effective, and the endorphins that your body releases while exercising make you happier. Although eating is a solution, it's not the greatest one...compulsive eating isn't a good habit.

One of the best ways to de-stress for me is to sit with my cat. She gets comfortable on my lap, and I'm forced to not do anything except pet her and listen to her purr. Always calms me down.

Go for a long walk in a park or a beach. Bring a book, and find an empty bench.

I think its important to make friends with your 'inner self' to remain stress free. Meditation atleast 30 mins everyday is food for soul.
