Mr. Government

I don’t think if young people like us can force the Gov. to adhere to their promises. Right now in my country promises are now going out to us as young people, Like: We will get all of you young girls out of the streets and educate you give job and all that. If we vote them in, they will never know us again as been part of their success. To my friends out there, what do you think we can do so that they can keep their promises?

A Great discussion this is!
It is of my great interest too since by the end of this year in my country Kenya we are going to have the general elections. Many promises are being given but it is not the first time that we hear of them. The most "heavenly" promises are dumped once those who gave them get into power.
I think in the first place, it is we young people who have to look at the promises and see how realistic they are. Like your case someone is promising to get all the girls out of the streets and give them jobs! How reastic is this? Is he a wonderworker? Not even the greatest men and women of the earth have ever done this. Better if s/he realised the girl street life as a sorry state and outline what he can do to minimize the situation.
Secondly, what is his/her history of social transformation? What little thing have they done to pride over that something more is possible? What have they done to empower women generally before thinking of our sisters in the streets? "A sound tree is known by its fruits"
Thirdly, what is theiropinion of the current political government? Do they manage to clearly identify what is lacking for a better governance? We build on what others have done, correct where they went wrong and creatively come with something new which has never been thought of before, then can we talk of novel leadership.
Fourth, what is their understanding of the national policies and the general working structures of the society? No one can change a situation without understanding into depth the structures enforcing the it. Moreover, no one can achieve national change alone. What are they saying about general empowerment of the national population to bring a sustainable change?
Lastly, hye youngsters let no money or political emotions buy our future . Your vote is either to create a future of gold or gall. No body has the power over your vote. Vote and educate others to vote a person of integrity. Hard it may be to decide who this person is, but take time to listen to their rallies, analyse them and go for the lesser evil.
Thanks for this issues.
