S.A.R.S. - I personally think that there is no reason to be driven insane by it. Not that it's not worth taking notice about, but people should not worry themselves sick over it. As long as they've taken the precautions, there should be no reason why people get a nervous breakdown because of it. If one has done all they can, one should not fret about it. If I was destined to have S.A.R.S., then so be it - I would not go around, bumping on walls, worried sick about it. I would much rather enjoy what I have now, as to not waste away my life. Not waste away my time either. It is important that people bear this in mind.

I personally feel that SARS might be an act of terrorism. No matter it came from, we still have to deal with it. My suggestion is to wash your hands alot!!!

Ok,first of all,it's not from a person in Hong Kong. It was spread by this professor in Guangdong who knew he had S.A.R.S., but was foolish enough to ignore it. He attended his brother's wedding, even though he was sick, and what was the outcome of his foolishness??? He died, and so did his brother. It's quite sad, if one really think's about it. Second, I don't think, and neither does a lot of people, that it is an act of terrorism. It's simply a new disease, created and caused by different viruses. I actually think this new type of pneumonia is partially a good thing (don't mistaken me - I'm not saying that the deaths and panic caused by it is good), because we will have knowledge of it for the future. It wouldn't come out as badly if it ever comes again, because we know about it, and will have precautions. Good things come from bad things sometimes.

I am doing a big language assignment and would like to know how in YOUR country, what are they doing about SARS? And also is YOUR country doing anything to help prevent anyone from receiving SARS, like having masks for people to wear?
Yes, and I hope that they will find a cure soon

SARS in Toronto
May 6, 2003 - 06:37 AM
|
|
I have not let SARS affect and neither has anyone around me. The fatality rate is only 3-4%. There is a much bigger change of getting killed in a car accident or dying from pneumonia. As humans, we're scared of what we don't know. And I personally think that is the main reason why SARS is such a scare. I am outraged that the WHO has put Toronto on the list of places not to travel to. Concerts are still going on, malls are still crowded on weekends, rushhour traffic is still crazy, etc. Life has gone on. Yes, there have been deaths and new cases and paranoid media, but seriously, if you ask Torontonians, the vast majority will tell you it is nothing to worry about.
The cases are isolated to certain areas in Toronto and certain groups of people are more likely to contract it, such as those working in hospitals and healthcare centers. And seriously, how many millions of people are in Toronto? And how many have been affected by SARS? The ratio is like 1 to 10000000000000x.

S.A.R.S- I think this is something that should be taken seriously by everyone. It would be great danger if this got to the less developed countries, especially those with megacities. It could lead to a disaster with an average of about 5 people per room in their slums and ignorance among these people, only God knows what might happen!
I think we should all be cautious, and think about the people who have lost relations, friends and loved ones to this disease.

This sars disease is really annoying me. everywhere i go, i hear people saying watch out for people who seems like they have sars. I mean cmon! Everyone is afraid of going to places, for example malls. People are also afraid to go to restaurants. We shouldn't be afraid, there is only a little chance we will get sars. So, people shouldn't worry as much.

I am generally supportive of government policies concerning SARS (like airport check-ups, quarantine, etc.) but I am appalled at the way some countries have issued indiscriminate travel warnings and bans against some nations. While the purpose is clear, i.e. to prevent the spread of the disease, I think it should not translate to unreasonable policies which subject even those countries which have successfully contained the disease and in fact, have no recent cases of local transmission.

SARS is really contagious but I'm not really afriad of catching it and I don't think that other people are that much afraid anymore. it is spreading but if it was really bad and spreading fast most of the world should have it by now.
