discrimination in school
April 2, 2003 - 11:06 AM

As you know many childeren are discriminated everyday. People are judged upon their clothing, shoes, hair, physical apperence, color of skin, who their friends with, ect.
What are the most serious forms of discrimination has anyone, either yourself, friends or families, experienced?
Give reasons, or possible reasons why.

You are absolutely right. There are thousands of people worldwide who are being discriminated everyday and everywhere. This is not a case of racism but I think that it is a case of classism. Because everywhere there are groups of people that sort of stick togather, and they each have a class. The people that are being discriminated daily are because of their apearence, disabilities and abilities.

People are being bullied everywhere and everyday at school and at society. These victims that are being bullied are not because of that they can't defend themselves, but becuase of their abilities. The bully feels threatend of the victims abilities and beats them so that people would make fun of the victim for being bullied and the bully would be famous for beating people up. Once the victim has been beaten up by the bully, the bully becomes famous and the victim becomes a person who is said not being able to defend themselves. Then the bully feels threatened no longer.

I agree with chubby. I think that the real reason that people bully is because they have been taught to, they are afraid, or because they have no friends and nothing else to do. Bullys should be stoped. Just because they are bigger than everyone or that other people are afraid of them doesn't give them the right to go around bossing people and scaring helpless people.

I totally agree with all you people. There are a lot of reasons why some people bully. They may see it as a way of being popular, or making themselves look tough and in charge. Some bullies do it to get attention or things, or to make other people afraid of them. Others think that bullying makes them feel cool. Some bullies may not even understand how wrong their behaviour is and how it makes the person being bullied feel.

as most of u ppls said, i also totally agree that bullying is the worst thing tht could happen at skool. people in the world have much to worry about, however, there are more ppls out there that would have to worry about bullying. under and reason, bullies would just come over and start a big fight. its either about their appearance or any other physical or other features that they're born with or have.some ppls just bully others beecuz they think they're better than any1 else. i think that is totally unfair. not everyone is rich and not everyone has control of how to be born. other than doing nothing, why cant we try and help them? if we're not helping, its already sumthing we did wrong, so why do others have to be even meaner? why do bullies have to hurt their feelings even more. everyone should be treated equally and i think bullying should really stop.

Bullying, harassment, discrimination or violence have touched all of us at some time during our lives. Your right Fionalau, bullying is the worst thing that can actually happen. Even if bullies may not physically hurt you, it doesn't mean they're not bullying you. If they're making you feel sad and upset, you need to make them stop. Being bullied can make you feel depressed but it's important that you do something to try and stop the problem as soon as possible.
Bullying can mean many different things. For example:
-being called names
-being teased
-being pushed or pulled about
-being hit or attacked
-having your bag and other possessions taken and thrown around
-having rumours spread about you
-being ignored and left out
-being forced to hand over money or possessions
-being attacked because of your religion or colour

I agree. Being bullied really isn't fun.
Especially when it's a group, not just one person. It makes the vicitim feel like they are completely worthless, and that no one at all could like them. Even if they are never physically touched, mental and emotional scars probably take longer to heal than physical ones.
This can happen for various reasons, as has been mentioned before. Being overweight, taller or shorter than average, of a different race or religion, or simply being a new kid are a few.

Bullying = feeling suprior, or is it?
August 18, 2003 - 08:28 AM

Being a victim of bullying myself, i do agree that it is an action that should not be tolerated. Why? because there are many young individuals who are finding alternatives to end it and thatb is of course suicide.
thank god that i never attemped this fate but if i stayed at that school any longer then i would put my life to an end. being different from the rest in terms of race, i realised why bullies become so aggressive. it is because they have problems of their own...like domestic violence and abuse.
in the end i forgive those bullies and maybe we should pay more attention to them.

i think this discrimination happens because of the fact that everybody believes himself to be the ultimate and everybody that disagrees with him is wrong or at least less right than him. people lack mutual understanding. i don't know why this happens but it seems to be a human phenomenon, unrelated to a certain group or culture.

I agree, It reflects the immatureness or rather puerile sense of the person who is doing the “discrimination” ; if WE don’t want other to pick on us, why do WE do the it to others??
