Global Warming

Global Warming, not good. In the year 2007 during summer, everywhere in the world, the tempreture would rise up 3-4 degrees, according to a newspaper article. Global Warming is very dangerous. There would be more natural diasters and animals can become extinct. I blame it on human activity for using too much smoke and energy. War could have played a big part in Global Warming. If we are not going to take care of our planet, who will?

With Al Gore's win at the Oscars and coal plants being cancelled in the US, the politcal and economic tide may be turning. The key is how to generate enough power without putting too much carbon into the air.

Green is not about answering our needs (those of the have places/countries)but changing them.
We do not need to consume 37 barrels per person a year in order to be happy!
To attack Global Warming we have to stop burning so much.
Waste and abuse is not only rampant but encouraged and taught for the sake of what is known as "economy". I call it the "Economic War". A war that we will all lose!
The automobiles going in and out the cites are like mini-vulcanoes created by man. Pimples on Gaias surface. We create and churn the weather systems, helping spread the poisins WW on or lands, in the air waters and eventually, food chains.
We, the haves but mostly the, have a lots and too much, have to tune down their activities and consumptions.
The century is still young, not too late to change.

in order to make the alternative energy technology and infrastructure that is required, we need to contribute energy and produce carbon. does that mean that it is going to get worse before it gets better?

I would say that it is time for humanity to take responsibility for their actions, but that wouldn't be fair to the youth as they are involved today but it is the past that caused the most damage. There is no way of repairing the damage without causing more, b'cause in order to come up with a solution people need to build create and polute

depends on what you want a solution to be...
if you stop people doing everything that pollutes, then thats your solution. No combustion etc..
if you want a closed, sustainable ecosystem. then the energy can ONLY come from the sun and the way people live will have to change in every single little way...

Right now, I think Global Warming should be more important than war and violence, and I'm sure more people agree with me. It's the future of the Earth people, who would disagree?

I'm sitting here in my office looking out on the green lawns, the sun and the gorgeous weather. But the beauty of it is somewhat disturbed by the fact that we had SUCH a short winter. It's just not normal and that's a bit scary.
But I think that it comes down to every one of us, I mean as individuals. Sure, governments also need to take action, but the real change I believe is made in our individual (and shared) lives - we need to think about what we do and how we use the resources we have. They are not unlimited, though it's easy to think.
So what can I do? I can choose not to take the car but bike/walk/use public transport. I can compost (is that the word?) waste. I can turn down the heat in my apartment a couple of degrees. I can use candles instead of electrical light (it's nicer too!). I can buy groceries produced in my own country.
It may not be much, but if we all did it I'm sure it would change something.

yes we all must contribute in our own way....we must be aware of what is happening and make all the people we meet aware too.
I can see so many changes around me...For example , Mumbai which is supposed to be a coastal city and hence technically should have a moderate climate is slowly trudging towards an extreme climate... Sometimes it gets quite cold in the mornings during the winter month.....this was unheard of before...

Global warming is an issue that affects every one but especially the fragile ecosystems on earth.[quote]If we continue to destroy the earth, the earth will destroy us and when it does, it will not forgive.I think this is also true.

Apparently there is a documentary that passed the other day on the BBC that claims that global warming is more a marketing "tool" that a real issue. I apologise as I couldn't watch it and can't remember its title, and therefore I am just transcribing a discussion I had with a friend. This documentary was apparently supported by some scientists of the best universities. The basic idea was that during some glacial ages the level of CO2 was several times higher than the current levels and therefore you could easily draw the conclusion that CO2 has an impact on climate (greenhouse effect) but it comes to a point where its effect saturates. (Revolting?) In addition to that they advise that many big corporations are claiming to become "green" and mobilising the mass to create new streams of consumism and new needs. A good example could be GE, massive american corporation that is supposed to be turning "green".
I think this could make sense as nowadays been able to differenciate what is pure marketing and what isn't becomes extremely difficult? Or is science also driven by the big corporations as they have managed to control the "global thinking"?
I would like to know what are your views in regards to these issues.
I still however believe that even if global warming wasn't a reality and just a natural cycle, mankind cannot carry on throwing so much waste, pollution, etc to the planet or burning natural ressources without control in an inefficient way.
Regards.

Yes global warming has taken effect to a lot of countries around the world. This problem is not just as critical as politics or as bloody as war but our fight for a safer and better place for the future, for our future. The answer is right at the corner, DISCIPLINE. I mean we may not be able to repair the damage in some way or another because industrialization is quite a need nowadays but i guess we can do something to lessen more damages in the environment. If we can do it who knows there will be zero additional destruction. We just have to be one with the earth to understand what she's going through. Remember we are the trustee of the greatest Trustor. He gave the earth for us to PRESERVE. He made the earth to dwell with us. Let's give her the chance to see us grow the way HIM up there wants. If we'll do it then making a difference won't be a problem.*

Global warming is global problem. Until and unless these so called devloped (economically) countries don't take strict measures to control emission of green house gases and CFCs, little efforts by developing coutnries won't make a big difference. Other fact is rising giants like India and China should also beware of global warming. These two gaints can'ake serious impact on global climate in name of development and prosperity.
We should intiate from our home, our community rather than blaming others for this serious problem.
