[Poll] SARS... Virus or Terrorism?
March 31, 2003 - 07:13 AM
|
|
Now I'm not too well informed on the topic of the SARS ' virus ', except for the fact that it has approximatly a 5% mortality rate, but I think it's possible that this could be an act of terrorism. Now if I am correct, Korea has in it's possesion biological, nuclear and chemical weaponry, and was mentioned by the ever popular George Bush in one of his speeches. What better way to spread a new virus, than by unleashing it upon the most populated country in the world.
Like I said I'm not an expert on SARS, but I think this could be a possibilty.
Any comments, feedback or opinions would be gretly appreciated!
Thanks.
Do You Think It's a Possibitiy That SARS Was an Act of Terrorism?

What reason would the Hong Kong guy want to hit us with SARS? I doubt he really knew he had the virus.

it cant be terrorism. first of all (Canada) isn't involved in the war aganst Iraq, and Canada doesn't have any enemies. Secondly as jason said why would ppl from Hong Kong wanna kill us. And it's not like it waz delivered to Canada, it was brought to Canada with people who was were aware that they had it.

Just for some clarification, I obviously didn't make my self very clear, as a few people mentioned to me that my wording was a little unclear. What I meant to say is...
As some of you may know Bush had mentioned Korea as a country that weapons of mass destruction in it's possesion. Now I am probably wrong, but my theory is that Korea didn't like the attention that they were recieving from President Bush, so they decided to unleash a new virus that they had in their possesion. Now the way I figure it, China being the most densley populated country in the world, would be the perfect breeding grounds for a new virus. Like I said this is just a theory, but I think that Korea released the deadly virus upon the citizens of China in hopes that it would cause a global epidemic, essentially making it's way over to the United States of America.
That is what I meant for my post to read. Because I am not disagreeing with either of you. I do not think that the Chinese people meant for this disease to spread. And also I never said that Canada was a specific target, I believe that the intent of the Koreans was to essentially cause tons of people around the world great suffering, but the American's in particular.
As I said before, this is just a theory and my opinion, and I am probably wrong.

well I DONNO .
but who knows it can be a possibility... maybe its not a terrorism org backing it but just an individual terrorist who's feel angry at *the whole world* for what's happening in Iraq...or maybe just some genious scientist with devilish mental illness...hehe..
why Hongkong guy? maybe its not the guy but *hong kong* that matters. Becuz hongkong airport is one of the biggest airport with loz of connecting flights to everywhere..
umm still i donno. But when nothing is sure, everything is possible.
anywaz i think this curable becuz in Vietnam 10 people who had SARS have been saved. But they didnt say how they were saved yet :s.

You can't be sure that canada doesn't have any enemies. How do you know that they dont. Politically they may not, but to the eyes of fanatics, Canada may be an enemy, just like Australia may be, that was regarded as one of the safest countries in the world.
But re: SARS, i dont think it is a terroris act. It is more likely a mutated flu virus or something to that extent. It doesn't act fast enough.
Peace
Besty

I think that SARS is an act of terrorism. I have thought that from the very beginning. Even though Canada has no enemies, it didn't start it Canada. I think it started somewhere in Asia.

So you are saying that...
Korea unleashed a virus among a willingly person willing to be affected, and killed. So Korea sent a person that was willing to die, then going back to Hong Kong, killing his family members, friends and more. Then spread the virus among some other countries like Canada, Asia and some others I forget but who needs details.
To me that sounds kind of stupid and strange. I doubt this was done on purpose, besides, I doubt there are people dumb enough to do that unless that person from Hong Kong has some kind of grudge against us. It just doesn't seem right

SARS a virus

I think that an archeaologist (hope I spelled it right)discovered SARS. He knew and hid it from us. If he told someone that he got this virus, they would find the cure right away and he shoould have stayed home though.

It's a pretty lousy terrorist attack if thats what it is.. I mean sure SARS is bad (my school had to cancel a trip to Asia because of it so we werent to happy about that). And its very upsetting that so many people have died, but there are much worse diseases out there. SARS has killed around 200 people at this point GLOBALLY. Out of say, 6 billion people 200 isn't much. I think the 'terrorists' would have thought of a more effective way...

All events remind me the film "12 monkeys" by Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis. All world population decreases rapidly because of virus epidemic in 2030.
