Teenage pregnancy myth dismissed

The perception that teenage girls with unwanted pregnancies have been less careful about contraception than older women has been dismissed by a study..
Doctors at a Glasgow hospital analysed the birth control attempted by nearly 1,000 women requesting abortion..
They found that the proportion of older women who had used no contraception at all was roughly similar to the percentage of teenagers..
The findings appear in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology..
It just go's to show..it's not only teenagers who are being irresponsible..

Yes, that may be true but it seems as though teenagers use it more often. I know at least 10 girls who have used abortion as a form of "birth control". That doesnt make it right though.

Yes you're absolutely right..I could never condone abortion as a form of birth control..I think maybe society highlights the problem more for teenage girls..In fact..as the study shows..there's no difference between them and older women having abortions..statistics are more or less equal! I still dont agree with it though...

It might be useful to see how anybody's pregenancy is not just related to women/teenage girls. The issue also involves men/teenage boys. What about thier role and thier level of awareness?

I agree, although it may be hard to track down stats since boys/men may have been involved with abortions with multiple people.
Sex has always been one of those taboo subjects that people do not like to talk about. I agree that the only way to limit unwanted pregnancies is by education and acceptance of a more open public discussion on the topic.
