I don't think so. Especailly for some subjects. When you have a big unit test and its worth 20-30 percent of your term mark. That isn't always fair because you could have scrued up on that test, and all your hard work that you did won't matter because the 1 test brought down your average.

Report cards are fair, but giant unit tests arent exactly good for a student. Parents have the right to know how their child is doing in school, and report cards are the best way to show this information. Sukhpreet is sort of right, If you get bad marks on one test it will lower your average, but what is the reason for screwing up on the test? I think the teachers are trying to prepare us for high school, because in high school you dont get tests, you get exams. Exams are exactly like the unit tests we have, so BE PREPARED!

I agree with Nina because if you are not prepared for a test you can ruin your chances of getting the mark that satisfies you

I think report cards are fair. It tells you how you are doing in school, and what subject needs to be improved. But what i don't get it is what Big Unit tests are for. Tests marks should be accumlated equally, not judging by one big test.

In all the report cards, teachers give us a mark on how we have done in the past terms. they combine certain tests, quizzes and other stuff we do in class to come up with the mark we get now. everything we participate in class counts towards our mark in our report cards. the mark we get on our report cards are mark that we deserve and that mark that we had earned. therefore i conclude that report cards are fair in my perspective.

I also do not think it is fair for a unit test to count for such a large portion of your mark.Another thing that i find unfair is when peopel compare their marks in with yours because each teacher marks different than another.
