Air, Water and Land Pollution
March 28, 2003 - 11:50 AM

These are the three elements of destruction most deadly to the Earth's environment. And all three are caused by humans. The factories we humans build prove deadly to the Earth because of all the land pollution, all the water pollution and all the air pollution it produces.It drops chemical waste(toxin) anywhere and everywhere the toxic fumes kill lots of people it is creating a huge hole in the o-zone layer. Cars and Oil tanker also play a huge role in pollution. Atleast hhalf the things humans do is a kind of air, water, or land, pollution

I agree i did a study on air pollution and almost everything we do makes air pollution. Air pollution effects the world but it also effects the way our body functions and if we don't stop air pollution will kill us in the future.

O Zone Layer

I agree with both of you. The pollusion is also ruining the O Zone layer. Which protects us from getting sun burn. As the O Zone layer gets distroyedwe are having more chances of getting sunburn and higher risks of getting cancer.

Toxic Subtances are affecting our lifes
April 4, 2003 - 10:14 AM

I agree water pollution has wide-ranging impacts on our health, our environment and our economy. The beluga whales in the St.Lawrence River have blood levels of pesticides and PCBs ten times higher than belugas in the north. Some toxic substances in our (Canada) H20 causes cancer. Some other substances in our water are also harmful to our reproductive and immune systems. All Canadian are affected by this but the greatest health risk is to small children, the elderly and to Aboriginals in the north who rely on local wildlife as a source of food. Acid rain is threatening 15 000 lakes and forests in eastern Canada.

It's nice that everyone agrees with each other, now can we come up with some ideas to STOP the pollution?

Reduce exposure to toxic pollution
March 25, 2004 - 07:55 AM
|
|
Hazardous man-made chemicals have contaminated every environment, and wildlife - including birds, polar bears, frogs, alligators and panthers - is known to be suffering.
And up to 300 man-made chemicals have been found in humans!
Hazardous chemicals are found in the tissue of nearly every person on Earth and exposure to them has been linked to several cancers and to a range of reproductive problems, including birth defects.
BUT, there are ways you can reduce your own and wildlife's exposure to toxic chemicals.
A few tips;
1. Buy organic produce whenever possible.
2. Wash and peel fruit and vegetables before eating.
3. Avoid the use of pesticides in the home or garden by going organic.
4. Avoid canned food: choose fresh, frozen or dried foods instead.
5. Avoid food coming into contact with PVC cling film.
6. Open your windows instead of using air fresheners.
7. Buy naturally scented soaps, shampoos and cosmetics, not ones that contain synthetic fragrances.
More tips are available at the following website;
