What 's ur point of view about perfection?
January 6, 2007 - 10:23 AM

First of all ,i would like to refer to a certain point, which is ; perfection is only for GOD ,cause no human being can reach perfection ,we are trying to do our best to improve ourselves and to reach the upper level ,up till.....perfection?!
we cannot,so what is the standard satisfacting level that one can feel like "i did what i should have done to feel satisfied for my level".
In my point of view, no one can have this long-timed feeling of satisfaction ,because it's temprory, and after a while, you will feel that u still have to carry on heading upwards, towards perfection, actually, heading to the nearest level close to perfection ,because God had planted this feeling deep inside us to keep on working ,because this is our message as the kalifs of God on earth,to renovate ,and if we had the feeling of perfection from the begining we wouldn't have acomplished any progress for renovation ,SO this is the greatness of Allah..!!
what do u think about perfection then?

I really don't know what perfection is. It's a mystery but I'd like to experience it anyhow.

The subject of perfection is such a big mistery. And maybe it should be.
I feel that no one trying to be perfect will ever achieve perfection. Maybe you don't need to do anything to be perfect. Think about it. Maybe, we are already perfect when we are born and then by trying to be perfect, we mess up.
Or maybe not, I guess we'll never know.
And also, there's not just one definition for the concept of perfection, this being such an abstract and subjective concept.
I guess all we can to do is not be paranoid about reaching perfection, because we'll never gain anything from doing that.

I'd also like to add that you'll never reach perfection by working hard or trying because then you'll just create a distance between your outside and the real you inside.
And you just can't be perfect if you're not you, I mean, that's what you're meant to be, so trying hard to achieve perfection will lead you in the opposite direction.
Oh, and I'm not talking about the you that everyone thinks they know, I mean the REAL YOU, the one that lies inside.
Look carefully.

I appreciate your point of view very much, but i don't think that there will be any conflict between reaching your goals , trying to improve yourself and being your own self as you are refering, because when u r reaching ur goals and improving yourself ,you are doing at by your very own way,as u desire ,so you don't miss your inner character ,and perfection is briefly a motive for anybody ,especially those who have a message in life, they try to deliver it as perfect as they can,do their work perfectly as much as they can...

excellence vs perfection

Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing. (Harriet Braiker)
Hope it clears a lot of question but not all cuz it is the nature of human desire not to be satisfied, and most men live only for the gratification of it.

I believe perfection is like the light at the end of the tunnel humans try to reach but which recedes as we try to bridge the distance. As long as we are alive, we try bridging the distance but it gets farther away from us. The spirit isn’t to give up on the search because we can’t clinch the object of our quest, but to go on in that infinite search.

I think that the Godly sense of perfection can not possibly be achieved. But then, is that enough reason for us to stop trying to give our best in everything? I just want to share what I have learned from 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull'. In that book, it is said that perfection is trying to overcome your limitations. After overcoming one, you would surely find another limitation. It must be like trying to reach infinity. You might be thinking that it is senseless. But then, is it enough reason for us not to aim to live a good life when we know that we would all die? I don't think there is anything wrong in trying as long as we know in ourselves that we are becoming better people in the process.

Au contraire. Many people I know constantly revel in their own perfection.
