Is having more advanced technologies a good thing or a bad thing?

In many ways, having more and more advanced technologies can be a positive thing and a negative thing. A positive example is that we would get to research and learn more about future situations and material. A negative thing is that students and people would always or mostly count on technologies and machines to get their resources from.
What is your opinion for having more advanced tenchnologies in our education and learning community in the future?

Advanced technologies can make learning alot more interactive and fun for students - but at the same time technology can be a distraction and there really isn't a substitute for sitting down and doing the work. I do believe that advanced technologies will increase the appeal of education because the way topics are presented will be a lot less dry if there's more multimedia involved, for example.

this is a typical "it depends" question ...
depends on the extent, environment, design, usability, etc. of the particular technologies.

By having more technology we can learn about more cures for diseases, and about more species of animals. We can also get our work done faster.
But then technology isn't always a good thing either because sometimes it's bad for the envirorment. I could cause pullution. We just cant think about how to make our life easier we sould also care about the animals around us, because we share the Earth with them.
We should have a limit to our technology.

I agree with all of you that technology is a convinient thing but it also effects us in many ways. For example people don't visit eachother much because they can talk on the phine or email. A good thing thing is that if you have a project it saves time, instead of reading so much books you could save time using the internet. The internet also help you meet and communicate with someone from another part of the world that you have never meet, with the same intrests as you.

I agree! Technology is very convenient. With technology, many things have improved. For example communications between people have changed. With technology, people can communicate on the phone or with email. Its makes many things alot easier in life. It's also even faster to get things done. We can learn alot more as technology improves. I also agree that technology isn't all that great. With too much technology, it may damage our environment. Beside we can't also depend on techology for everything.

I think that technology is very convienient to use. I think that in ways its not good because people sometimes use computers too much!

I think that technolgy is good, because it helps us lessen our work needed to do many tasks. for all us lazy people technolgy can be AWESOME!

I think technology is great. It makes your life so much easier. Although, it does have a bad side. Technology can be very complicated. If we keep depending on technology, how can we learn to be independent?

Technology- it can be a good thing and a bad thing.

Technology is a good side and a bad side to it. A good thing is that it makes your life easier; you can do everything online, like bank, shop, research and a whole lot of other things too. Students will find it a lot more fun if they do work on their computer which will make them get a better mark and be more concentrated. A bad thing is that as technology starts to be more advanced, computers will replace the job of workers, this will make more and more people lose their jobs. Another bad thing is that more and more people will stay at their homes and rely on their computers to do everything for them.

In most respects, I think it is good for education. The advent of open universities have given opportunities for people who could not regularly go to schools to have their needed education. I also agree with Mikael that the use of multimedia makes learning fun. It also makes the classroom interaction less monotonous. The downside is of course, some cause environmental damage.
