IS THAT ALL THERE IS TO IT??

two days ago in the news, there was a 5 month old baby who was raped, by allegedly her own father. People can argue that it is a psychological problem on the father's part. Well there has been an increasing number of rape cases especially of children of not more than 12 yers in my country. The most commonly used explanation is the beleif that sleeping with a virgin can cure AIDS. i.e lack of education/ Knowledge on such matters is the cause. My Question is, and espacially in African countries,does it all come down to education? is the lack of it the cause of our problems?

oh thats really bad and this myth still exist even though a great work has been done....
Ya i agree wid you its because of illiteracy and people and not propersly given awareness about it...

That is truly very sad ,poverty ,ignorance ,education ,
social problems ....and other things they all take part but I have a question is there really a belief that sleeping with a virgin can cure AIDS because such a belief can have dangerous, unlimited,endless results

Where on earth did this belief come from..it amazes me that people do believe it..But as already said..these people are ignorant of the facts..due to lack of education..so then why shouldnt they believe it?They know nothing more..and this will continue to happen until they have been educated. In the meantime many, many children are being abused in this way..It's so wrong..*

It is surely a pyschological disturbance if a person believes that lie. A baby? My God! They are crazy to do that to their own children or to any children for that matter. I hope they just spare the kids and the innocent!!

The issue of reping is every where but i have never seen, heard or encountered a case of this nature; that is really a psychological problem in a high level which if care is not taking i dont think it can be corrected. please good people of this world if there is any thing you can do to help the child father please do, becouse it will not be funy if i were the child and i grew up and hear what he did, noting will stop me for taking him back to where came from.

Ah!!
I wonder whose belief that is!
Surely a human being believing that way.
Rape is a grave offence!
May be those having such beliefs are rapists themselves.
How for heavens sake can a virgins cure AIDS? Who on earth brought that belief?
Even if it was true, how can we say "a few-months old kid is a virgin, so let me sleep with it"? Moreover by an own father?
Any way let's fight such acts. Enlightenment is paramount. Let's teach people about AIDS in all possible ways.
But RAPE...

Rape is one of the most dehumanising acts one can go through and its also beastly. Myths or no myths, they just cant justify their actions and this people especially who rape young helpless children should NEVER be forgiven nor convicted but should be killed on the spot. Am sorry i may look radical or bitter, but that's how i feel.
