This site is for a social cause and they must be spending money on it for hosting.
I always talk from the grass root level.
I do not know how they are running the site?
I am unaware whether they are getting any direct donation for the site or they doing it from own pocket?but this site has a very good rank so They can ad some google adsense ads so that They can Get some money for the social cause also.
If it looks cheap to Get money from advertisers then I am sorry it is just a suggestion

It should not be only business oriented advertisement. If its for the social cause or can help through this the needy people then nothing is wrong in advertising in sites. So it totally depend on the cause behind the ad.
