I think to reduce pollution we should get electric powerd
cars instead of gas powered ones because they are the cause of all this air pollution. Its not just
cars that cause it its also the buildings and whatever else is causing all the pollution around us.
People should just not use so much gas for homes, bussinesses, and cars. we should all just get a
bike or walk
to places at least we would get exercise.
Exercise is good. Better than gas powered cars that will
eventually be the death of us all.

Just something I felt like saying in here I don't think pollution is a good thing I do agree that
something should be done but did you all know that 1 volcano eruption releases the same amount of
pollution every car on the planet would make running none stop for 5,000 years. That’s all.

Same Kind of Pollution?

I have heard something along these lines before. I am not sure if volcanic emmissions affect the
environment the same as from human society. One example I read of is that volcanoes emit more
chlorine than our use of CFCs (prior to Montreal Treaty), but the chemical composition of the
volcanic emissions actually caused less damage to the ozone layer.
Nature can be ironic: awesomely powerful yet sometimes very sensitive.

i totally agree with you....we should make a better attempt to reduce the amount of pollution which
isn't necessary. Just because our ozone layer hasn't broke through "yet" doesn't mean we're
safe....by the time it does it'll be too late so i suggest we walk more if a drive isn't necessary
and plant more trees to help our air.

walking can improve your health too, and you can be in shape also, instead of being flabby and all
that, but the most concerned reason is that if we live in far distance from school, we should take
the bus, i mean taking the bus is cool, you can talk with your friends and chit chat without being
heard by your parents, that is if they drive you to school, but if you drive yourself, that's a
different story, but anyways, we should drive less and walk more

I agree about rachel25's point about too much pollution. Not only there's pollution in-land like
cities and other rural areas, but the waters. Waters of the Pacific is gradually causing pollution
as well.
So, if your fishing in the Pacific waters, put a little bit more effort not to
spill large amount of oil in the water.

i think if people would walk to school, and carpool with other people it would reduce traffic and we
wouldn't have to pay all this money to build or freeway bigger.

I as well agree that there is too much pollution around us. But there are so many effects of
pollution apart from the climate change e.g. teratogenesis and other effects that can severely
affect human health, which I believe have not been given the appropriate significance. My point is
that there are so many other problems arising from pollution rather than climate change which might
as well ne natural change rather than human impacts.....

Much more than producing Green cars, government should look at introducing bicycles to be used
in-town. There is greater need to think of how to also produce green helicopters and aeroplanes.
In developing countries young people, are taking simple steps to mitigating the impact of climate
change. like on this link
http://gysd2010.blogspot.com/
More is still required -sensitization and campaigns to local communities and encouraging government
to committed to their promises.

Hi Roshan.
You are right about polution being a major problem for the world, but you've misunderstood about the
ozone layer.
The ozone layer hole has been shrinking since 2005 when the use of CFC's (Used mainly in fridges)
were banned.
Interestingly some scientists now think this is making global warming worse. It just shows how
complicated the whole system is.
Have a look here

Hi Meryana
Interesting thing I read the other day. There are now more trees in England than there were in Robin
Hoods day.
Of course the biggest poluters are industry, not cars about 65% of all air polution comes from
factories! this is good news in a way as its easier to make clean (low polution) factories, than
cars. We need to make the government do more and stop blaming the public!

Does anyone know if using vegetable oil or, indeed biodiesel reduces the harmful emissions from a
standard diesel engine?
I guess at least if i switch to alternative fuels it's better than nothing.
Any thoughts? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
