Need for Blood.

Blood is an esssential product. From time immemorial, the need for blood has always been with man. The challenge of meeting that need has always been and it remains daunting. Three categories of people have been identified as priority-need/ high risk people : women during childbirth, accident victims, and surgery patients. In a Nigeria of about 150 million with a speculated 85million being women; in a Nigeria where accidents are prevalent... one can begin to imagine the extent of need.
There is therefore of necessity an onus on us to source for sources. Unfortunately, this one of the areas of need we can expect our 1st world buddies to meet for us. We must have a shift in our mental paragdigm: THE SOLUTION TO AFRICA'S (NIGERIA'S) PROBLEMS MUST COME FROM AFRICA! not from Mars or Jupiter. Of course, we would need help on our journey to attain and we are not disdaining any gesture of help but we can not sit a-loafing, waiting for some wizard with a wand to wish away our worries.
Fortunately, the capacity to do is with us. We've been blessed with an abundance of human resources. It is people we need to meet this paucity of blood not cattle, and we've got it.
If a million Nigerian youth pick up the habit of donating blood 3times a year, that means our blood banks would have 3million units of blood. That might not entirely solve the problem but it will go a long way. Nigerian youths, let us rise to the challenge. We all say and agree that the future is us, well, (news flash!!) the future is here, the future is now!!!!

I am a frequent donor of blood, and i agree no matter how many times we donate we still need it. There is always a need, but i cannot always donate it it is difficult. But for who can, please donate especially around this time of year, let your hearts fill you with the holiday spirit to donate to someone who may really need it!
