We live in countries where we have a government. Do we really need these people to lead it? Can we not govern ourselves? What are the benifits or deficits of having a group of leaders to govern us?

Governments are pillars of current social and geopolitical structure of any state. Unless you want to live in a jungle or in a totallly chaotic system where everyone does what everyone wants regardless of those around, you have to have some sort of government.
The important question is just how competent the government and how to elect a competent government.
