Why do we allow others to control who we are?

I LOVE MUSIC, I LIKE PLAYING IT, HEARING IT AND SINGING IT. I AM A HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST. I AM AN ARTIST, A MATH NERD, A POET. What's wrong with that? I do love math, it might make me nerdish but I enjoy it. Many people dislike certain things because it's not 'in'. But why is it that we let other's direct the way we live, the things we like, the things we do?

What's wrong with what? I don't let others direct my life! Nobody is directing any of your life. You can maybe say 'influence' but direct is not the right word. Because in the end, it's you who make the decision.
And plus, it depends on which group you are specifying. If you say, your parents are directing your life. That's wrong... They're trying to give us a better future, by guiding us what THEY THINK is good for us. And friends? bah~ who knows, they might be just plain jealous of your zeal.
And btw, I don't see Math-loving as nerds. What's wrong with nerds anyways. It's not much different with loving music or sports. It's the same in that it requires the same energy and passion and concentration. The only difference would be it being a study subject not music.
So anyways good luck and hope you don't look at the world in negative ways.
