Our relationship with the US has been hurt, but only to a certain extent. I don't think the US or anyone should expect us to blindly follow American policy - I don't recall being informed that Canada is the newest American state, and until that day I believe we reserve the right to make our own decisions.
What annoys me is when Americans say things like "I'm American so do you hate me?" to Canadians, just because a two politicians have made anti-US comments. That is extremely childish and nonsensical - just because two politicians made anti-US comments doesn't mean that all Canadians hate the US. The fact that Americans need to resort to that kind of rhetoric, reminding Canadians of these two statements made by private individuals who are allowed to have their own point of view, is really annoying.

True, true, but I think people that go on the net a lot, whether it's just from playing games, or posting in forums like these, would encounter that one time or another. And yes we are not another state in U.S., that is true but I'm not sure if Bush really likes us that much. But still I don't really think any change will happen.

Ya, I really don't care, we made our decision based on our own convictions (it really helped that Bush's only convincing arguement was "because I said so" , it will be sad day when democratic decisions are decided based on what the Americans will think of them, and what they will do to us if we disagree.

hey, i didnt even realize that canada hadnt joined the war. maybe most people expected it . but seriously, i dont think the US government really cares if canada joins the war. they (think they) are so powerful that they dont need another country to take a share of the proverbial pie. they obsessed over france, russia, and china's involvement because they are permanent security council members. looks better with their involvement. no offense to the canadians in the forum, but not many people care about you guys down here in the states, even though u are a much better country then we are.

Haha, perhaps you should have watched the news, or maybe you were watching something regarding the US, it's not unexpected though, it's is kind of true some people expected Canada wouldn't join the war, but how come you guys don't really care about Canada?

hey, i have no idea why not many down here dont really pay attention to or like canada. its always been my opinion that canada was a great country. id venture to say better cuz they didnt "elect" george bush . but thats my opinion. most of my friends just focus on the "Ey, what are you taking aboot." which is just a stereotype. i dont really mind canada.

Oh, well in a polital type person, I guess they wouldn't really care about Canada because of our peace (Thank you God) and our not involving in the war I supposed, but oh well.

And for not fighting in this war, Canada gets MAJOR props. hell, i think more then 30% of the people in the US are not too happy with this war, but, of course, who would trust a president who got selected by the supreme court and not the people (getting 49% of the vote is not the popular vote)

I wonder why Americans don't know more about Canada or are more affected by Canada - obviously the 10:1 population ratio makes a difference, but at the same time, we're neighbours, we should have more interaction...

The US relationahip with Canada is as old as our respective countries and as broad as our boarders and it has been a peaceful one - really amazing in that way and they will continue to be strong - the relationaship is much broader and complex than this war - it is codependent.
That goes for France, which has a very old relationaship with the US - these may change but they are based on too much positive common history to just fall apart. They helped us win the revolution, we saved them in WW2.
Countries like Russia is where it will get interesting.

your guess is as good as mine. as far as i can tell, culturally, we are pretty much the same (minus the stereotypical ey what are you talking aboot, do any canadians even talk like that?). governmentally, u guys are better then us, with socialised medicine and an army that DOESNT start wars, and isnt the cause of any either.
