doubling time

Some of te issues i want to talk about are how fast is the population doubling? Will we eve run out of supplies? How much pollution in areas? How are we going to change the birth rates ad death rates in developed and developing countries?
Well... the population of the developed countries is developing really fast.. i think in about 16 or 17 years whereas the population of the developed countries taks some time to double. That's because in developed countries people understand more and have more knwoledge than other countries who r still developing. They have more medication understanding oo with what they know exactly how to control the birth rates. In developing countries there isn't much medication so the birth rate is very high.
Scientists say if our popultin keeps growing at this speed at 2030 we will have a shortage of oil. The oil prices will rise up dramatically. Well its jst a prediction for now but i think we have enough supplies... ad the oil we have enough crude oil underground so i don't ink we will run out of that.
The cities are gettin very polluted now because of teh growing population..there are mor vehicled around and more factories so all the toxic gases and toxic liquids are spreadin around. People have been getting really sik of all the pollution lately in some countries.
If you have any questiosn to ask about my topics or any other related toic... feel free to ask.. and type your comments to me...

I personally don't think we will run out of supplies in 2030 or so. As technology is improving these days, cars will start to use hydrogen and oxygen to run. But i agree with the fact that the pollution is increasing dramatically. Scientists are trying to find life and water on Mars. If they succeed, i don't think the population will be a problem.

i totally disagree with alex's opinion. i mean with the growth of population, housing is becoming scarce and the government will nedd to build more houses for the people to live. with the need of shelter, the natural environment will become less and less. the air will change and it will definitely affect our lives. every country shud limit birth or sumthing. i noe im not being very fair but for the sake of all humans, that can be a resolution to this problem.

hmmm...this one's hard...i kidna agree and kinda don't...yah...the world's population is growing rapidly...but people still die alot...it is the people's fault who have made the world this way, and for that, it is their responsibility to fix all the problems...i'm not making much sense am i? i dunt agree with cheryl...limting birth is bad...i mean...how did u feel cheryl? u were born at the time where it was illegal to have more than one child...personally...i don't see this as a really big problem...at least not for me...as long as there are people being born, there are people dying...and if one day the world really does get all crammed up that its hard to live, than thats not my fault cuz i'd probably be dead by then...there really is nothing u can do to stop this but to live with it and just get used to it...

i kinda agree with emily, the amount of people dying is still alot. Although the amount of births outnumber the people dying, limiting births is still a bad thing.

I'll agree and disagree, technology is coming up fast, and deaths are approaching to many people, but a study shows that more and more people are deciding not to have births. All we really need is more room, more oxygen, and more things we need. It's the pollution killing us, and besides, perhaps Alex IS right, we'll settle on another planet and get plenty more room/air whatever.

Dr. Ehrlich

His predictive powers are suspect. Dr. Ehrlich predicted a lot of problems for the 80s and 90s that didn't happen. I'm not saying we do not have to worry about population issues, but we need to remember that crystal balls can be murky. :-)
As far as resources, we often find substitutes as the old resources run low. We have switched from wood to coal to oil and gas. We have replaced a lot of the use of steel with plastic and (despite the jokes) do a lot more work with electrons as opposed to using physical resources.
We need to apply our ingenuity to slowing population growth and providing more economic/social opportunity.

I'm afraid within a few decades we might run out of resouces and land for people to live on. Because people in developing countries don't have a good education they have a rapid population growth. With their population growing they have a very short doubling time.

Well all i know is that we are definately having a population problem! The standings are that every second 1 person dies and that 3 people are born! That means that our population i doubling almost every decade! If we gonna move to mars which i highly doubt we better do it fast!

yes..it's bad how the population keeps doubling over time. Soon enough, we will run out of room on the earth'z surface and it would be too crowded for us humans to live on. Yes, maybe you're thinking that it will take years and years for that to happen and you wont have to worry about it because by then, you will be long dead! And its true but it doesn't mean you can just ignore it and not do anything about it. Because if it doesn't happen to you, it will happen to your great great great great... grandchildren. And that might just put an end to the world! We need to do something to save this world. But hmmmmmmm.....what exactly can we do to keep the population from growing?

Well, Well, Well.........here comes the voice of the thrid world countries.
I believe we have no problem with population increase despite the fact that our last population cencus read 28 million people in such a small country!!!Yeah, that was it but I believe nature always has it's way of regulating all there in. This can be through the constant droughts we do experience, through the HIV/AIDS epidermic, tropical malaria epidermic,poverty......menn, they are many ways through which nature does tha regulation that we cannot have control. Running to Mars is a far off call.
Let nature take it's way and stop worrying about where you wii reside. Life goes on normally.
