How do YOU envisage materialism, as part of your Spiritual journey... Can you see, in any way, that such might be advantageous or detrimental to your cause??? confused

Material possessions is just as imperfect as the society they are created in. Anything beyond our basic primitave form is in opposition and therefore over valued.

But because of our intelligence as humans, we must engage daily in this imperfect and synthetic world. So it is important not to value anything too much and focus on the more basic points of our social system. If what you own doesn't greatly benefit change in your basic structure then it is probably useless and be done away with quite easily.

Hmmm...materialism itself.! Well besides the basic necessities of life, wouldnt everything be considered a material item? Our computers, our clothes and so on! But these things have become a part of our everyday lives we fail to recognize them as material! Personally, i would say materialism can be a benefit because i consider a computer a material possession but yet it can create so much good such as this online organization smile

Materialism is a dangerous idiom to place priorities in because when things are more important than you are those around you we lose the ability to see people for their merits and replace that with seeing people for their status. In so many instances people are told where they belong and who they can associate themselves with according to their material standing. I will use the example of clothing for my purpose. It seems common place for people to stereotype people by what they wear and negate the value of that persons moral fiber. I, myself, enjoy shopping and the like but I always hope people consider me before the brand I'm wearing.
